    Yummy Yummy Cuban

Tasty and Sophie's is great value. Not a great looking restaurant but for a quick lunch it really hits the spot, especially when it gets colder in NYC. Wish there was one in Union Square where i work. The only Cuban place is Havana Central and the food is half as good for double the price. Long live Sophie's! Best dishes: Pernil Cubano and Shrimp in Garlic Sauce. Maduros are excellent as well.

    It's a Cuban diner

Some of the comments here are misguided. Sophie's is a Cuban diner, and they do lunches. Service is brisk and the food is great. I can't believe someone is bellyaching about getting the check when the food arrives. If you are looking for a traditional restraurant experience, then you are in the wrong place. You go to Sophie's to get scrumptious food at great prices. After I leave, I'm so full that I can't manage any dinner that night. There's a reason why people line up to get in.

    Best place in town

I usually go to sophie's three times a week with my friends, and we really think this place is great, the food is awsome, we think is the best place to eat spanish food in town, and most of us are latinos, so we know what we are talking about, we highly recommend this place.

    Too Bad for Sophie's

I love spanish food and there arent many restaurants around Park Avenue so I have to go to Sophie's. There food is less then average compared to other cuban and even small mom & pops spanish shops around...When I order my meals I usually notice they are being stingy with some items, such as rice... There food is not even all that great and the service is poor.

    Unpleasant Experience

If you want to have a nice quiet relaxing lunch Sophie's is not the place to go. My co-worker's and I were rushed through our entire meal. The check was placed down right after we received our food. The waitress kept coming over to take items away. My co-worker was half way through her dish when the waitress tried to take her plate! This happened 3 times. The waitress proceeded to put a second check down. Obviously she was trying to tell us something. We were only eating for 20 minutes at that point. Besides all this the food did not taste fresh either. The waitress came over again and just took my co-worker's plate without asking if she was finished with her meal. Finally, the waitress came over after cleaning the table once more and told us we have to leave to make room for other customers. This was not only rude but there were empty tables for others to sit. I proceeded to tell the waitress that it was rude to do what she did and that I wanted to see the Manager. The Manager came over and told me she was sorry but the waitresses are told to put the check down on the table after the meal is served. I said well that is rude for one but the fact that she was clearing plates away while people were eating was inexcusable. The Manager said she would talk to the waitress.

    Dreat sandwich delivery

My co-workers and I order lunch for delivery quite often and came across their menu. Since then we order their Cuban sandwiches once a week. Their delivery was quick, the sandwiches still hot and delicious, and the flavors right on. The sweet plantains weren't really fried like we expected, the tamale wasn't the best in the world, but we've continued to order the sandwiches on a regular basis.
