Too Much Hype
My friends and I came here for lunch one day because we always see people with bag's from Sophie's. We ate in. It took way too long for the waiter to bring our food. We all didn't get our food at the same time and it was too cold. The waiter couldn't speak English very well so when I order soup (after repeating it 5 times and showing him on the menu) he brought me stew. To top it off, he refused to give us ice with our drinks despite the facts that we were 1) sitting right by the ice machine 2) dying from heat exhaustion. Therefore, Sophie's needs to get it together! ASAP

Good food, great value
Went to Sophie's for dinner with my husband, and we both had meals that came with 2 sides. I had fried pork chops with salad and mixed rice. My husband had beef stew with salad and mixed rice. The portions were good (two huge pork chops), and the food was fresh. For 8 bucks, I don't think you can get better food in the city. We were very satisfied with food and service. Will definitely go back.

Awesome
Down and dirty diner style cuban...the spicy chicken with rice and beans is amazing.

Very decent Cuban food
Born in Cuba, grew up in NYC, lived in Miami & back in the City. Growing up it was strictly Cuban food at home. Today I tried Sophie's for the first time. I bought for my parents the roast pork, moros & platanos maduros (plantains, to you) and some tamal and ham croquetas. The maduros, tamal and croquetas were OK, but not great. The pork & moros were delicious. Very Cuban indeed! I have to agree with the person who said that Sophie's is a diner. The set-up is Cuban fast food. It's worth trying.

Cuban food
The food is overpriced for lunch. The quality of the food is not that great. The food is not that good I was tolled about this place I wish they had the peruvian-cuban-chinese restaurant from 83&Amsterdam which is awesome.
