It's OK at best
The food is tasty but the portions are not enough. They basically serve you 2 lbs of rice and a little meat. Its not worth 10 bucks. I wish there were another restuarant in the area with spanish food. I can get the same dish in Brooklyn for half the price and double the meat portion. I'm surprised they have lasted this long. The service isnt great either. The soup is all broth. I dont even bother ordering soup anymore. Overall I wouldnt bother going unless there is no other option.

good food- bad delivery
good food. my delivery guy was a complete arse. gave me attitude when i asked him for a pen to sign my seamless order. i'd order again, but the delivery guy irked me so much, that i'd just as well order from sophie's to avoid the inconvenience of the delivery guy.

Good Flavor - Tough meat
I agree with the one review that they give you too much rice and not enough of meat or other sides. I had the carne con papa today and the meat is very tough. The seasoning is good but the meat was not cooked long enough to allow it to get to a very "melt in your mouth" consistency.

Stop being so cheap Tina's
Where’s the beef? (for real!) When this place was Sophie’s, the food was fantastic and portions were preposterous =)! The place was fantastic! Then Tina’s took over =(, the food was still very good (considering it’s the same staff), but little by little, over the months, the portions got smaller and smaller and smaller – now they ‘push-in’ the bottom of the ‘tin plate’ – effectively removing 20% of the food they can put in there, then they about 78% of the remaining space with rice (effectively what you are buying here – rice), finally, they ‘paint’ on the food you request – if you asked for beans with your rice, they ‘paint’ on the beans. If you asked for shredded beef, they paint on the beef, creating the illusion that there is beef there, but in reality, it’s only been painted on the surface of the rice, the same wit the beans. So ultimately – you are just buying a bowl of rice with a taste of beans and sample of meat. For the love of Cuban Gods! Stop being so cheap Tina's – you continue to lose customers!

The best Latin Carribbean food in mid town
The food here is really good, I have never tasted anything bad from this place. delivery is good about 20 mins and the price is not bad to the amount of food they give, which is alot. I highly reccomend it if you want some good latin style food.

Rice and Beans
This place is awesome. You get to sit down and still get a quick meal for cheap. the rice and beans are amazing and we usually roll with the chicken which is bomb. All you haters need to relax. Best lunch in the city.

Yum
I went here for the first time yesterday. It's right across from the Science and Business Library, so a good lunch stop whilst you're studying. I had the roast pork with yellow rice and sweet plantains, for which I paid $9. It was all absolutely lovely, and an enormous portion. Considering you can easily pay $7-8 for a mediocre sandwich in the city this is a far, far better lunch. The pork was succulent and tasty, and the pale green hot sauce on the table (which I didn't have to pay for, contrary to a previous review) was outstanding, being somehow both cool and spicy at the same time. I loved it.
