I would've given 3.5 for value, had it not been for their lunch specials! That brings the points upto 4.5! $6 for all you can eat lunch buffet (mon-fri 12am to 3pm). Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. But their regular hour prices do go upto 8-9 dollars. Decor is modern and clean, but the music... I don't know if it's the owner's taste in music but they're always playing this Jazzy improvision mashup, Indian style. Waiters are enthusiastic, though sometimes too eager to take your plates away. They were extremely helpful when they were asked questions about Indian food and how it should be eaten. (i know what a chutney is now) I love that waiter guy (the older one) from Nepal, who says he used to own a tandoori kitchen in Nepal with 3 staff members and how he burned his forearm when throwing in naan breads into the tandoor. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Even the fact that it's an all-out vegetarian restaurant doesn't phase me a bit. This place has blown my mind. Best vegetarian dishes I've ever had.

Had a fabulous and inexpensive dinner at Tiffin Wallah. We ordered two difference curriesboth were delicious. Also ordered parathawhich was hot, moist and not oily at alland sambarwhich was extremely flavorful and nicely spiced! My boyfriend and I shared a Flying Horse as well and the cost of the meal came to just $32. Loved this place and can't wait for our next meal!

a bit of a rush for a small place during lunch but worth while. Do what i do and sample everything with the first plate and then go back for what you like. Everything's fresh and hot, one chuntny was way too salty but everything else was great. For $6.50 you have nothing to complain about.

Lunch buffet for $6.50 is amazing value. 3 curries plus rice and india breads, salad and sauces - all very delicious. Busy place (rightfully so) with efficient and friendly staff.

...from two South Indians! This place has the most authentic food we've ever tasted outside of South India. While most other Indian restaurants grease or butter up their food immensely, it's great to finally see a place that delivers the real thing. We haven't tried their North Indian fare. But if you go there, reward yourself with a hot South Indian Dosa, Uttapam, Idli, or if you're feeling adventurous, a real South Indian Thali. Their sambar (the mark of a true restaurant) is to die for!

Just had lunch buffet and for six bucks you can't beat it! We eat in curry hill a lot, and some of the restaurants have let themselves slip- meaning they are not as good as they once were. Tiffin Wallah's food is fresh, delicious, and flavorful without being greasy! Great south indian food!

What a welcome surprise! Read about this restaurant in NY mag, here and other various places, decided to give it a try. Certainly heads above the usual Indian fare in the neighborhood -- or anywhere else in Manhattan. The food is wonderful. The flavors and seasoning are perfect, vegetables are so fresh (unlike other area vegetarians), the service is friendly and accomodating. The dosas are perfect, curries are savory and perfectly spices. Even the mango lassi for dessert was better than the usual. The atmosphere is more modern and cleaner than the dark dreary rooms in most similarly-priced Indian restaurants in town. Will be returning very soon.
