Great South Indian food
In a sea of many vegetarian Indian restaurants in Murry Hill, this one is the top. The lunch buffet and weekend specials are both huge values. The sag paneer is fresh and not overly saucy, unlike another I have had.

Love it lunch OR dinner
Tiffin Wallah is one of my favorite Indian Restaurants in the city. The food is always fresh and I have always had really consistently good food. The lunch buffet is high quality. Sure, they don't have millions of things, and no, they don't have lamb and chicken, but HELLO! It is a vegetarian restaurant!!! get with the program! BTW, I'm not a vegetarian, I love meat. But I certainly can live without it when I am eating at Tiffin Wallah.

Best vegetarian indian
Have been here dozens of times and it is one of the few places that can make excellent north indian and south indian food. All the menu options are fresh and the waitstaff are always polite and accommodating. Get the Chole Batture on weekends.

Vegetarian food that hit the spot
Ordered food to go. Chana Masala was great with a little bit of a sour taste, although I wish there was a little less oil. The palak paneer was tasty but heavy on the tomatoey sauce & not enough on the spinach side. Paneer was not too firm which made it taste lighter. Not much rice given for each dish but I guess that works well with low-carb dieters. Food was ready quick and no hassle ordering/picking it up. Would definitely order from here again for vegetarian food. Better price point than most other Indian restaurants - I just don't think I should be paying more than $10 for a handful of vegetables.

For the record, the lunch buffet is $6
Unless you think $6 is too expensive for a lunch buffet, I'd suggest you disregard Miki's review below.

Not worth it (Lunch buffet)
Why is this place top rated is beyond me. Went to lunch buffet. Long line each time you approach the buffet. Very limited offerings and not tasty. Too expensive for a veg meal. For same price you can get at neighbouring restaurants great indian food that includes chicken or lamb dishes. Am not returning to this place.

Great Food, Poor Service
The food here is excellent - a true standout from the raft of sometimes indistinguishable Gujarati restaurants in Murray Hill. Dining in the restaurant is also a pleasure, despite the occasional waits. Unfortunately ordering for delivery - which I do often - is a bad experience as the woman who takes delivery orders speaks *very* poor English, resulting in orders that are often wrong or incomplete. Calling back is unproductive, as she refuses to admit errors or put a manager on the phone. Until this woman is replaced or retrained, order for delivery at your own peril.
