Downhill
This use to be my favorite place in Curry Hill, but they have let themselves go: tofu instead of paneer, tasteless curries, peas that are still frozen. Very sad. The servers are more concerned with how the plates are arranged on the table then with asking how your meal was. Maybe they just don't want to know the truth.

Cheap buffett
This place is great for a cheap, quick buffett lunch. $7.50 for all you can eat vegetarian dishes, and they are tasty!!

Highly, highly recommended
As a transplant from the Midwest, who welcomed the culinary diversity of New York, I was rather disappointed by the Indian food options in Manhattan. Tiffin Wallah was therefore a great surprise! Excellent food, where the quality of the ingredients isn't masked by obnoxious seasoning. The curries are delicious, and I highly recommend any of the tiffins (especially the samosa chat and the pakora!).

Great Indian in a town filled with sub-par Indian
Wow, I've been here many times for lunch (awesome buffet, super cheap) but went here for dinner for the first time on Friday night. Like lunch, the food is great, the prices are unbelievably low, and the only thing that is missing it on the spot service. It's not that their service is bad, it just isn't always at your beckon call. This is my favorite spot in NYC - and it is actually frequented by Indians (need I say more?).

Best Indian in the area!
I've been a loyalist to another Indian restaurant for many years. I tried Tiffin Wallah last night. I am about to order in again as I am craving, CRAVING I tell you, there food. It was delicious, delicately prepared, amazingly un-oily. I am thrilled beyond belief. Thanks to menu pages and other peer reviews for point me to Tiffin Wallah.

The best Indian food in New York
I grew up in South Asia so can be quite critical of Indian food in the city. This place is AMAZING. Great flavors. I have never tried a bad/mediocre dish at tiffin wallah. I have eaten at plenty of Indian places in the city and this is the best place if you want a low-key restaurant. Try the chaats. They are great. I also recommend the Masala dosa. The Samosas are ok. Also, the lunch buffet offers great value in a recession.

Hands down, the best Indian restaurant in New York
Until I discovered this place, I had found a few decent Indian restaurants in the city, but none that came close to the quality of a decent Indian restaurant in London. This changed everything. It is up there with the best in London - and I am a hard sell! I should qualify my assessment by saying that whereas I am not a vegetarian, my strong preference in Indian food is South Indian veggie. Everything I have eaten here has been superb. The samosas and dosas are musts and te soups delicious. And the prices? Apart from the thalis, which are complete meals, I don't think anything on the menu is outside of the $4-9 range. Go with a few people and share.... and enjoy!
