Tick Tock Diner

Let's start with the service cuz that's the only good thing about this place. The waiter was very nice and friendly. I ordered scrambled eggs and sausage...simple enough, you can't really go wrong...or can you? The sausage didn't taste anything remotely like sausage. Can't even describe it. The potatoes were slightly undercooked. The only thing that was ok was the eggs and toast.

I walk into this diner with my date late circa 11:30PM last night, and the waiter seats us without handing us menus. I get up and get one from some staff members doing some accounting at some table. After several minutes, we get a hold of the waiter, and let him know we need another menu. My date goes to wash her hands, and I see her come back out to grab napkins from empty tables because there was no paper in the girls' restroom. This is a 24 hr diner - so it's like it was the end of the day and they had no chance to stay on top of their restocking game. We ordered the turkey/mango wraps. Food was decent. Not bad - but not great. I feel bad for the waiter, they seemed understaffed at that time and I think it cost his service some quality. But forgetting to hand menus? Please. Never bothered to check on things, and had to yell out for him to get a check. Atmosphere OK. Will never go back. I'll wait to get home and eat instead of stopping there. Only went because everything else was closed. You'll have a better experience eating at Subway - trust me.

the diner atmosphere makes tick tock great but the fact that my friend and i had to wait for over 15 minutes for our waitress to come to us is too long. understandably it was busy at 2:15pm but still, how much does it take to just come over and say "hi, i'll be right with you"? when we finally ordered, we waited about 30 minutes for our food. turns out that they're okay with giving customers semi-burnt waffles and chicken fingers that are not whole pieces. i didn't send it back because i figured that it would have taken forever to get a decent waffle. thank goodness for the warm syrup...

I used to frequent this place for lunch all the time. Food is alright, lunch wraps are pretty good. Burgers are also decent, but nothing special. It's an average value for average food but the service is terrible during lunch time. It takes forever to get hold of a waiter/waitress because there's only a few on the floor. If you must, wait till off-hours.

From Scotland and on a City Break staying next door at the New Yorker. Before setting out each day this is the place to eat. Waiters friendly and helpful. Service quick and food just perfect. French toast witrh cinammon, pancakes hot and fresh, tea hot, juice juicy nad water to help with the dryed out skin in the cold. Fabby - no problems and would highly recommend the brekkie!!!

I read alot of negative comments about the Tick Tock and I just don't get it. I have been to NYC many times, and I know all about waiters who are challenged by the art of speaking the English Language or rude, and all about overpriced substandard food. But the Tock is quite the opposite. I have probably eaten there with my family 15 times and every time is just like the last... cool. The chrome exterior of the building is like a friendly umbrella to shield you from the (sometimes) cold world that awaits you on the streets of the city. I'm sitting here in Ohio right now wishing I could wake up in the morning and walk down to order a Traffic Jam. If you've never tried it I really recommend you do. Good Luck.
