What's with the bad reviews?
I'm shocked at the bad reviews here. My husband and I have been eating at Tia Pol since they opened and I've never had a bad experience. The food is consistently great and the atmosphere is relaxing, even when crowded.

Delicious!
I have avoided Tia Pol for years because I didn't want to brave the crowds. But, a friend of mine was dying to go, so I agreed to tag along. I can't believe what I have been missing! Yes, it is tiny and crowded. The space is not beautiful and there was a long wait. However, the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable and the food was so satisfying. I highly reccommned the lamb and the crispy garbanzo beans. The host also told me that they now take reservations, so we can avoid the wait in the future. I will be back, over and over!

Not recommended
I've been forced to go to this restaurant a few times and every time it's the same experience. The place is freezing cold in the winter and the seating is really uncomfortable. They need to provide more non-alcoholic beverage options and for crying out loud make regular coffee! With few exceptions, the food is not good. Chocolate sauce on roach-looking sausage of some sort? Ew.

Great Tapas
Last friday we, myself and my co-workers, decided on going to this tapas bar. Being an expert on spanish tapas. I've been going to Spain since the late 80's, and I know the difference between authentic tapas and wana be tapas. Honestly, so far this has got to be the best so far that I've eaten and is as close as you can get to authentic Spanish tapas. I highly recommend it. The place is boisterous though, and gets croweded. That's a good thing. I'd never eat in an empty restaurant for starters. All in all, I recommend that you try a variety of tapas . I loved their gambas a la plancha. Reminded me of Malaga's gambas. I am definately going back!.....Two thumbs up!!

Applebees does Tapas?
I don't normally do this, but I can't stand the thought of anyone else going there unless they know the following: Atmosphere was almost non-existent, the layout of the entire restaurant is centered around a little dumpy & noisy kitchen. The seating is poorly designed and uncomfortable, and there is very little warmth built into the space. The food was not good - bland and salty. We got five very different dishes, and all of them seemed to taste the same. The best thing on the menu is the sangria, but just make sure you don't get any of the fruit in your mouth....unless of course you like eating lemon peel. Sorry Tia Pol, but you struck out big time.

better than most
Reading the other reviews made me seriously question whether or not they were written by the owner's mother. Especially when someone writes that these are "the most amazing" in the city. No, they are not transcendent, but they are good, better than most, in fact. The wine list is nice too. But this is the kind of place where you will be pleasantly surprised that the food is not average and equally surprised when the check come out under $50. That is a fair review!
