a great find!!
i know this tiny restaurant (tapas bar) has been around for awhile, but i got there for the first time last night. the food is excellent. they have a very knowledgeable staff that knows the menu and their wines well. the best of the best: patatas bravas, ham croquetas (you will want to eat 10 of these!) and shrimp ajillo, but everything we had was delicious. it's a small place - it gets very crowded - make a reservation - it is worth the wait!!

Best Taps in the city
My husband and I have made Tia Pol one of our regular go- to places. This place is amazing authentic spanish tapas. You may have to wait a bit, but honestly the cute bar area is part of the fun. Get patatas bravas, piquitos de jamon, and of course the croquetas. The food comes out really fast so you have to stagger your ordering, but we love it. Amazing.

Long wait was worth it!
Although the wait was long, the restaurant staff was very hospitable and made the wait seem less inconvenient. They have a nice wine selection, which I was pleasantly surprised with! Once we were able to get a seat (at the bar) we ordered and started receiving our food very quickly. Everything was fabulous- the patatas bravas and the skirt steak special were my two favorites- yumm! Give it a try- maybe just call a week in advance for a reservation so you can avoid the wait.

Best tapas in nyc
Tia Pol is one of my favourites, and is the best Spanish tapas in the city. The suckling pig is to die for and everything else delish. The interior and size of the restaurant, while tight, is evocative of tapas places in Barcelona. Love this place.

Great service, ambiance, yummy food
The ambiance was comfortable and elegant without being stuffy. It is pretty small and I literally had my back against someone else's back due to space issues (perhaps they could have put them at the larger table instead of cramming them into the table next to us?) However the service was top notch. The food was very tasty though a bit heavy on the oil and salt so next time I would specify light on these.

What's with the bad reviews?
I'm shocked at the bad reviews here. My husband and I have been eating at Tia Pol since they opened and I've never had a bad experience. The food is consistently great and the atmosphere is relaxing, even when crowded.
