    Steer Clear!

While sitting at the bar waiting for our table the owner/manager was so abusive to the staff it was embarrassing. The service was a joke. It took forever to have our server take our order. The staff is cluless on ingredients in dishes and appropriate wine parrings. Not that the wine list is even worth a look. Typical cheap bottom of the barrel choices. We got appetizers before we even got bread or our drinks. The pizza is the worst woodburning oven style I've had. Talk about skimping on toppings. $25 for a large with few toppings? The pasta was drenched in oil. When the host guy (who was the only nice person in the whole place) asked us about our experience, the bully owner yanked him away and told him to stop talking to tables and seat more customers. Poor guy, he was the only one trying to make the experience enjoyable. After paying the bill, we were finishing our drinks, when the owner asked if we would mind finishing and leaving so they could seat other people, even though the place was half empty. We then went down to the "Lounge" the finish our drinks, and were definitely not welcome. How has it been around for so long? Only good thing: It's cheap... and it shows!

    My comfort zone

Three of Cups is where I go when I want some nice, delicious comfort food and that too often late-night pizza. I love anything that comes out of that brick oven and the salads are great, too. It's the kinda place where you feel at home (except when it occasionally gets too crowded at the bar) and you know that you're going to leave there really satisfied and not broke. The wine list is actually better than you'd expect, as well. I'm not a big fan of the party/metal/goth scene in the downstairs lounge, but they are so separate that you never even know it's down there unless you want to.

So glad we finally tried it!

We had been meaning to try this place for years and finally did so last night. It was wonderful! Wish we had gotten around to it sooner. The food was perfect. Service was fine during the meal however as soon as we were brought the check we were asked to quickly relocate to the lounge downstairs. The same was done to all other nearby tables. Made sense given that there was a long wait out front, but we could have been asked a bit more tactfully. At least give people time to pay their check before pushing them out the door. Even with this, we will be back as the food and setting were excellent.

where did they find these waiters?

i love three of cups and go at least once a week (even though i live in brooklyn), but i wish they would either promote the bus boys or hire some new waiters. i always end up giving my tip directly to the bus boy and bartender because i hardly even know who my waiter is most of the time. the food is amazing and priced very reasonably and you will always leave satisfied. the pizzas are excellent and are served straight from the wood burning oven and they always have great specials. also, the bartender is very friendly (the one with blonde hair) and i never mind when i have to wait for a table because she makes the time pass quickly. however, when it is busy, the owner makes everything seem a little more stressful than it needs to be running around and yelling at the staff.

    Great spot!

Had a really lovely evening here. Food was extremely reasonable and good. The mussels appetizer was generous and tasty; portions were all around perfect. Drinks were strong and cheap. Server was very attentive and sweet. I liked the dark and cozy atmosphere - definitely a place where you just want to keep getting rounds and talking with close friends.

Lovely first visit, can't wait to return

We went on a weeknight around 6:30, the place was mostly empty. We were seated immediately and offered drinks and menus. Water and an amazing basket of warm rosemary bread were promptly served. We each ordered a pasta dish that we shared.... we had the pasta Bolognese, which was good, and the pasta with meatballs and sausage, which was WONDERFUL!! I can't remember having such light, perfectly prepared meatballs. I agree with a previous reviewer that the chairs aren't particularly comfortable. But with perfect meatballs, I hardly noticed. I'd love to try their pizza, which looked really yummy too. The same meal in my uptown neighborhood would easily have been twice the price.

    Nice place

Discovered this restaurant while walking through the area and decided to give it a try. For a party of six on a Friday night, seating time was very reasonable. Very unique atmosphere and nice seating arrangements. Service was so-so and rather slow at times, however food quality was excellent (especially the specials). Prices were also reasonable considering the quality of the food. Overall, a nice experience, if you don't mind waiting a bit for the service.
