I'm from Brooklyn, I know good food!

Born in the L.E.S. n raised in Gravesend (Brooklyn). I know good Italian food (especially Pizza & Pasta) and the Three Of Cups has both. Thin crust pizza fresh from the wood burning oven with all types of choices as toppings. VG pasta and new specials, dishes when i come back to the place after i been away for awhile. Prices & portions have always been very fair (especially considering how the East Village has changed). I have recommended the place to friends and even family and everybody has been happy. I don't have to leave Brooklyn to get a good Italian meal, but i do go to the East Village for the Three of Cups. Now if they could only do something about the parking!

    not the worst but close...

Went for mother's day with family...blah. The place was empty so we didn't notice any poor service like the other reviewers. They sat us by an open door with a draft. Had to move tables. The food was equivalent to a subpar diner. The menu has an ambitious selection that the kitchen can't live up to. Pizza was adequate but not for the price. Bread was supposed to be hot but it was served to us cold and stale. The potatoes that came as side dishes were stale like they were cooked a few days ago. I think they were someone else's leftovers.

    Awful

Rotten lettuce, burnt potatoes with no seasoning. I have never sent a dish back in my life until I ate here.

    Takes Forever for Delivery

My roommate ordered from Three of Cups a few months ago and had a bad experience - it took almost 2 hours to get his food delivered. Tonight I was craving Italian and figured maybe he'd just had a one-time bad experience, so we decided to give them another shot. What a huge mistake... I ordered food at 7:15pm and it still hadn't arrived at 8:45. I called and was told it was "on the way". At 9:15pm still no food, so I called back and was told they must have "lost my ticket" and that they'd "make it again, right now". It's now 9:45 and still no sign of food. For what it's worth, they offered to cut the price in half. If they'd done this only once it would be fine, but twice does not bode well.

Three of Cups, Ace of Spades

I've eaten here several times, but mostly I order delivery. The atmosphere of the restaurant is sort of East Village medieval, with the chandeliers and pew-like booths in front. Delivery is quick, though the thin, delicious pizza gets cold very quickly. Baked stuffed clams are fabulous, pasta is okay.

    Steer Clear!

While sitting at the bar waiting for our table the owner/manager was so abusive to the staff it was embarrassing. The service was a joke. It took forever to have our server take our order. The staff is cluless on ingredients in dishes and appropriate wine parrings. Not that the wine list is even worth a look. Typical cheap bottom of the barrel choices. We got appetizers before we even got bread or our drinks. The pizza is the worst woodburning oven style I've had. Talk about skimping on toppings. $25 for a large with few toppings? The pasta was drenched in oil. When the host guy (who was the only nice person in the whole place) asked us about our experience, the bully owner yanked him away and told him to stop talking to tables and seat more customers. Poor guy, he was the only one trying to make the experience enjoyable. After paying the bill, we were finishing our drinks, when the owner asked if we would mind finishing and leaving so they could seat other people, even though the place was half empty. We then went down to the "Lounge" the finish our drinks, and were definitely not welcome. How has it been around for so long? Only good thing: It's cheap... and it shows!

    My comfort zone

Three of Cups is where I go when I want some nice, delicious comfort food and that too often late-night pizza. I love anything that comes out of that brick oven and the salads are great, too. It's the kinda place where you feel at home (except when it occasionally gets too crowded at the bar) and you know that you're going to leave there really satisfied and not broke. The wine list is actually better than you'd expect, as well. I'm not a big fan of the party/metal/goth scene in the downstairs lounge, but they are so separate that you never even know it's down there unless you want to.
