OK place right in front of BAM
It's difficult to find good restaurants near the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and this Austrian bistro does the job well -- with the advantage of being right across from BAM. The wine list is limited, but it does include Austrian entries. My paprika chicken was actually pretty good, and they make decent cappuccino.

We love this place
Love this place. We come in from the city just to eat here. It has a relaxed atmosphere and we always feel welcome. Even though it may be crowded at times, it never takes too long to be seated or be served with a smile. If you are in a rush you can sit and eat at the bar where the owner and the bartender share some friendly conversation and laughs. The food is always delicious and the specials are really "special". The bartender also makes great Martinis!

Gemutlich!
The sort of comfort food that reminds me of my childhood. Delicious! And with the lovely atmosphere of Vienna/Budapest. The beer selection is wonderful and complements the food perfectly. Enjoy!

Bravo!
A 'Hearty Bravo!' is due Mr. Ferlesch and Franz for the meal we enjoyed Oct.17,2007.A bright ambiance: crisp white tablecloths. The day's 'special' printed on a Menu insert was far preferable to having to remember rapidly recited lists. The German draft beer and Austrian wine were good selections. Our meals were well-served (plates too hot to touch where appropriate): Inge, our charming, well-spoken server, frequently checked our progress and any need for 'refills'. Our meal: the smoked trout mousse palatschinken with wonderful mushrooms; breaded celeriac cutlets with rarely found, genuine,'gurkensalat' (cucumber salad), goulash with spaetzle and porkcheeks, mouthwateringly tender with well-nuanced gravy. The kaiserschmarn dessert is a 'special' for those who opt for very sweet dessert..The Viennese 'ijscafe' with 'shlag' - a large glass with coffee, vanilla icecream + chocolate shavings atop whipped cream - was a true treat. Our only regret is that Mr. Fershel does not have a 'branch' in Hudson Heights'.

Made me feel like home !
I am from Vienna, and this place was a great experience, excellent food, very typical viennese dishes and great atmosphere. Service was slightly slow at times but extremely friendly and actually appropriate for a relaxed evening. I will come back many times.

The Best of Everything
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The food is amazing, service fantastic, and it is so close to so many subway lines, it's extremely convenient. The weekend brunch is a delight, and dinner is always a savory treat. If only my diet allowed for Austrian food everyday....

Ok if you are going to BAM
Hello. This place is dull. The food is B- level. Service is so so. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.
