If you'd like the view, go to the bar instead
This is a rotating restaurant (with accompanying bar, one flight up) on Times Square with a magnificent view of Manhattan and surroundings. The food is good, but it is very pricey, and they only have fix (limited) menus. My advice: skip the restaurant, go to the bar upstairs, have a drink while enjoying the panorama, then look for another restaurant in the Theater District.

Mediocre Food, Indifferent Service
What a pity that a restaurant in a venue with such potential (and in a Marriott Hotel) is so mediocre. Cold entrées, indifferent, sloppy, and slow service, high prices leave a bad taste. Our local hospital cafeteria does a better leek and potato soup. The deserts were better than the main courses. If you go, go for the vibe, the beautiful view, and don’t expect much else. It’s a typical Times Square tourist rip off.

Not worth it
I recently dined at "The View" by recommendation and I must say I was disappointed to say the least. The food was mediocre most importantly the service was poor. The waiter was slow and rude. Quite overpriced as well.

Not worth the money--Overrated
We went to "The View" in March of 2007 and were not overly impressed. The food was just okay. The desserts were pretty, some were better than others. The service was slow. The view consisted of a LOT of looking into the windows of a neighboring office building (not very exciting). The price for the food and service made this the worst part of what was a lovely trip to NYC.

Great Night
I don't know why the other reviews are so bad. When I went it wasn't a buffet. We both had bisque, filet, and dessert. It was all delicious. The drinks were slightly over priced. It would be shocking to find a restaurant in New York City offering what The View offered in its cuisine and view and it not be expensive. You can eat at a mediocre restaurant in NYC and have it be outrageously over priced. This place was worth it and we will go again in a few months. My only real complain is that the waiter seemed a little snotty at first although he did warm up to us as the meal went on.

Way overpriced
My wife and I popped in during a romantic weekend in the city, at the recommendation of some friends. The food is a mediocre buffet; deserts better than the main courses. It's a fun experience, viewing the city while rotating 360 degrees on top of the Marriot Marquis, and it was quite romantic at sunset, but that's really what you're paying for - the view. The food and liquor are so overpriced, it borders ridiculous. $30 per person for the buffet; our martini and glass of house white wine cost $30. Overall, it was just okay.

Bad Service
The fact that two glasses of Berringer White Zinfandel cost us $30.00 was equally as bad as the waitress who took 25ish minutes to serve them. The view was ok at best. If your going for the view or for any other reason, then spend the money on going to the top of the Empire State Building, or the Top of the Rock.
