The V Spot

I have visited this restaurant so many times in hopes that it will get better and because I really want to like it and support the effort to have a vegan restaurant in an area where there aren't a ton of them (especially one that isn't Asian based). My issue with it mostly has to do with service but also food quality. Most every time I've been here some part of my order has been wrong or lost completely. I agree with another reviewer that there doesn't seem to be a manager or someone keeping things running smoothly. I also wish there was a little more variety in terms of actual vegetables and less fake meat. I enjoy my fair share of fake chicken, but I also feel like as a vegan restaurant actual vegetables should be the highlight. I think it's why blossom, Angelica kitchen, and the candle restaurants in manhattan do so well - high quality, delicious, real food.

I have been to V Spot on several occasions. I have to say, not only is the food excellent, but also the owners are good people. Every dish I've tried I've loved. Dessert wise, the Peanut Butter Mousse is amazing. Even if you aren't vegan this place is excellent.

I came in here earlier today for brunch. The place was packed, but I was sat immediately. I ordered the pancakes with strawberries. They arrived relatively quickly, and were everything I had hoped. The strawberries were hidden until I cut into the pancakes to find them cooked inside. Awwww. So good. I accompanied them with a bottomless mimosa and then perfected the experience with a slice of the peanut butter bomb. I'm definitely going to order an entire cake from there for my boyfriend's birthday cause, dayam. Overall, the experience was great. The staff was nice and the food arrived pretty quickly and was super delicious. I'm definitely going to eat here again.

I ordered three dishes from the V Spot. An hour later, two of them showed up (I was charged fro all three). I live a few blocks the the V Spot. There's no reason for it to take as long as it did, when I only received 2/3 of what I ordered. What sort of restaurant charges people for what they don't receive? I can't even imagine what sort of a confused kitchen would allow such a mistake. As a vegetarian, I would love for a great restaurant to set up in Park Slope. The V Spot is not that restaurant.

As a longtime vegan, I had been meaning to eat at V Spot for some time. I was a little concerned by some of the reviews on here, but finally found the right occasion to try it. And I was very pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere is the right mix of thoughtful and casual, food was very good (had the California Burger with salad and fries -- my tablemates enjoyed their food as well, though can't remember what they ordered), and the service was okay (not great, but not as bad as some other reviewers have claimed). All in all, it was a pleasurable dining experience and I plan to return.

I've been eating here regularly since it opened a few years back. The food is consistently good and the service is consistently subpar. The recent renovation has made the atmosphere slightly less cave-like, but it's definitely dark and depressing inside. Be prepared to be ignored by the servers who always seem like it's their first day ever waiting tables. It's good to check in with them and remind them what your order is and how long you've been waiting. Despite all this, I eat here a couple of times a month because I *love* the food. Just don't go if you're in a rush or a bad mood.
