a favorite in NYC
My husband & I have the bento box tea lunch several times when we visit at least one week a year. Over several years we have always found the service very appropriate; they bring the food and additional requests in a timely manner, but also leave you alone for quiet conversation, or to read a book if dining alone. When we go during quiet times, we have often enjoyed conversations with the staff. I enjoy the atmosphere in the back room: a very serene, restful place. Although I personally love the decor, it is getting tired and used; it needs some refurbishing.

service was nasty
The food was very decent and the tea was wonderful. I would have loved the place had it not been for the nasty service. From the hostess to the waitress, they generally ignored me and my cousin and then acted rather angry when we tried to get them to do their job. The waitress, when she came with my tray of food, pretty much tossed the thing onto my table in front of me and stomped away. Terrible experience. Would NOT go back!

Relaxing, and tasty escape from the day
Lovely place to drop in and enjoy an innovative and tasty lunch - I recommend their daily special bento box with European accents. Great value. Sadly they haven't provided the restaurant with much space and decor seems almost a second thought but given its venue at Takashiyama, it still looks nicer than most other lunch stops off 5th Avenue.
