The Spotted Pig

This place has been hyped up by friends and reviewers whose opinions I respect so I was 100% ready to fall in love. SP had won me over before I even walked in the door but the experience itself was underwhelming. The hostess and waitress were very nice and appropriately attentive, food (especially the gnudi) was very good, although the fact that they won't replace the shoe string fries (which item of food is absolutely useless) with mashed upon request is annoying. There just seemed to be something off about the place. It was very crowded and loud. I suppose I would try it again, but not without some serious pressure from those I'm to dine with.

I recently visited The Spotted Pig with a few friends and after the experience we all had, we vow never to return. After waiting for almost 2 hours to get seated (the place is tiny) on a random mid-week night, we were finally seated only to be greeted by a very unpleasant waitress. The appetizers were good (nothing to write home about), but the entrees were overpriced for the quality you recieve. The steak was extremely salty and full of fat. Definitely not worth the 2 hour wait!

We were here for new year's eve. The place is very little and cozy, however even on a holiday we were not rushed and the seats were available at the time we reserved them. The service was excellent, the food a little bit pricey but very good and the atmosphere very nice and familiar because the place is very tiny. I liked it a lot.

My burger was good but smallish; No raw onion available for my burger; "the chef doesn't serve it that way." Shoe string potatoes were cold. My friend's smoked fish consisted of a mere daub on the plate. The banquette was uncomfortable, and jammed tables and loud noise made conversation difficult. An experience not to be repeated.

While the food was good and the atmosphere nice, I found the place to be outrageously overpriced. There are plenty of pubs around Manhattan that service comparable food at far lower prices. I suggest passing on The Spotted Pig.

The food was awesome.... and yes we did have to wait for our table.. but that is just because the place is tiny -- which I LOVE.... and sometimes the waiter was slow-- but he was super busy and SUPER nice.. and yes it was about 60$ a head and we hardley drank, but it is a trendy retaurant in the West Village... the spotted pig was all those thigs I thought it would be but it was also AWESOME.....

The space is cozy and romantic. Our gnudi and chocolate cake were yummy, the Spotted Pig bitter was even yummier, and the service was nice. After reading reviews, I found this place better than I expected.
