the land of yum
yummy food. yummy wines. yummy waiters :) I went with a bunch of girlfriends on a Monday night. It's buzzing and lively and all the dreary weariness of the day was left behind at the door. We ordered many sides: roasted beets, carrots, kale w/ bacon.. all seemingly simple but each packed w/ a punch of intense flavor (ie butter..etc). The gnudi were like little clouds, and my Jerusalem artichokes were light little soft puffs of perfection (ie fried). Not a place for dieters. It's a place to order the banoffee. To those of you who are uninitiated (like both tables of folks on either side of us): banoffee is banana and toffee pie (ie heaven). WOAH amazingness!

Not a Favorite in NYC
Overpriced and over-rated. Waitress forgot appetizer, put blue cheese on burger when asked for no cheese and simply said the only thing they could do was scrape it off. Manager was the least helpful person I have ever come across

Some meat with that salt, sir?
I only tried the chopped liver and the hamburger. Very little liver taste and very little meat taste as well. I'm certainly no chef, I mean I can't even cook a can of Spagettios, however, it seems to me that when a chef lays a ton of salt on every dish they are either trying to cover up low grade ingredients, or they have no idea what they're doing.

tasty but salty
Had heard good things about the burger so I recently ordered it. Aboslutely delicious at first but it was so incredibly salty, largely due to the roquefort, that I could barely bear to finish it. Just needs to be toned down. And prices are on the high side, but otherwise the atmosphere and service are both pleasant

Who's inthe kitchen?
After simpy rave -not -to-be - missed reviews of the Spotted Pig I finally got to take a look for myself. We waited a solid hour and a half to be seated on a Tuesday night. I was prepared for this and not in the least bothered...have a couple mojitos while you wait...they are divine. The sheep's ricotta gnudi are supremely executed...leaves not a thing to be desired. After our first course I was certain there was a diety or demi god crafting our food in the kitchen. I was SO excited to see what masterpiece would arrive as my entree. My date and I shared both the halibut and burger...surf and turf Spotted Pig style. The burger was SO woefully over salted that my palette was stunned into submission and unable to revel in anything for the duration of the meal. Was it the Roquefort? Perhaps. Either way the dish needs to be modified...holy sodium. Overall a really fun spot...fun atmosphere. Claustrophobes steer clear of this one.

wallet-unfriendly
Sure, the burger is amazing, but sweet christ every single thing on this menu is massively overpriced. I get that it's about the scene, not the food, but when the check came I felt like I'd been violated.

bummer- too salty
My friend and I ate at the Spotted Pig last night, and were so stoked to FINALLY go there. While the atmosphere was hot (lots of good looking people, kitschy set-up), the food was over salted. We ordered the gnudi for an app, and could barely finish because it was so salty. The burger and egg dish with ramps were also extremelely salty. Total bummer- Spotted Pig left a bad taste in our mouths. Maybe brunch is better?
