I would probably go crazy if Fort Greene existed without the Smoke Joint. This is the type of place that takes pride in their food, and simply is the best BBQ in Brooklyn. Beef Ribs are tender as heck, the hot dog is amazing, the Mac & Cheese has always been consistently tasty (best when it has some of the browned cheese on it), Brooklyn Wings are an interesting alternative to Buffalo Wings, and the pork sandwich is mighty tasty. Decor is what it is, nothing fancy but perfect for a BBQ place (I ain't expecting high class atmosphere, and neither should you). This place is best enjoyed on a lazy weekend, in a great location and part of town. The owners are friendly guys as well, and it is refreshing to see a place that has a welcoming personalized atmosphere. Quite simply, if you want five-star personalized behind-kissing service, white glove maitre d's, pretentious waitstaff and high thread-count table cloths, than don't bother coming here. Want the best BBQ in Brooklyn, than come.

Everything went up a few bucks since last time I was there. No big deal, everything still tastes good except the beef. Always sub-par. Anything pork and all the sides are great. FYI owners are annoying to talk to and usualy bother you when you are eating.

I've been coming to the Smoke Joint since they first opened. I love the baby back ribs, it's so tender! The meat just falls off the bones. The sauce is sooooooooooo good! I always get the fries! It's like having BBQ chips! Whatever seasoning they throw on the fries... is amazing! I also like their corn and BBQ beans. Their beef brisket looks pretty tender too, although I don't eat beef, I can't comment on how it actually tastes. The atmosphere is a bit hectic at times, especially one weekends and during dinner service. But this place isn't a table cloth candle light type of place. They offer a large beer menu and the staff is pretty good with making recommendations regarding beer-pairings. I love this place, by far it's my favorite BBQ spot... and I've been to quite a few in the city. Smoke Joint offers the juciest, tenderest baby back ribs.

I had been longing to try out Smoke Joint, and I finally did. I got the beef short ribs and my friend got the half chicken. This was on a very short list of the tenderest, smoothest meat I've had in my life. The seasoning and the sauce with it were perfect and fun. Amaazing. I had greens and fries too, which were really well-seasoned. Also, the owner was super cute and friendly and made us feel completely at home. My friend and I stayed talking to each other until they had to close, and the owner was sweet, encouraging and gracious about having us linger by. This was a really special place.

the other night my lover and i were really craving ribs so we decided to call in and order take out and drive the distance from our home in bed stuy to the rumored amazing ribs at the smoke joint. once we picked up the ribs and drov home, we realized that they had forgotten half of our order (including the ribs we had been craving)...they only gave us a bag with two of the sides we ordered and the chicken wings. when we called to say that they had forgotten half of our order, they were rude and told us to come back and get them..so we did. once we got there they reluctantly gave us our ribs and the mac and cheese my bf and made it seem like it was a big hassle for them to give us the food we had already paid for! it was insane..by the time we got home we had to reheat everything and it totally defeated the purpose of ordering take out in the first place. the food was pretty good once i reheated it, but so not worth the effort and the bad vibes.

I can't help notice that a previous reviewer praised the mac & cheese and the baked beans AND then went on to comment on the sliding (not swinging) bathroom door.... If you have never been to a gym in your life & are proud of it , this is your place! (morbid obesity rules!) Cellulite Mecca! whooo hooow!
