    go spend your $75 elsewhere

well after reading such positive reviews of THE FOOD at this RESTAURANT that serves FOOD (not service), i just had to chime in. first off, we were seated promptly for our early 6:30pm reservation on a friday night. pefect for a post-work meetup after a long week. i was excited to check this place out, as i've heard such amazing things about the food here. well, not so much. i was dissapointed with the meal. we started off with the potato chips+blue cheese that we had heard about. boring, weak, and pretty much gross "blue cheese sauce" doused all over some supermarket bag o chips. i could have bought a bottle of dressing from the corner deli and poured it over the chips and it would have been the same. whatevs, it's just an app. so we also tried the string bean salad, which i guess was supposed to be string beans covered in a greasy (almost tempura like) light fried batter. i thought we were going healthy and trying out at least one healthy app, but instead, we're served this greasy plate of something. i mean, it was fried so it was tasty, but just a little odd...again, not terrible ..just not recommended. so on to the main course...my wife went with the mussles and said they were pretty decent, and others at the table enjoyed their pork sandwich and pork chop. maybe they're not as picky as me, whatever. i thought i'd play it safe and go with the great looking burger you can't mess that up right? i went no bacon, and it was served with a heaping mound of thin cut, piping hot, wonderfully seasoned fries. the burger was covered in a white, mild cheddar that complimented the meat well. however, the burger was just plain lacking something. i'm a burger freak, so i always order it, even in a setting/atmosphere/environment that would dictate ordering otherwise. so what, i'm a creature of habit, leave me alone. anyway, the burger wasn't the worst i've ever had, but it certainly was far from the best. it was a middle of the road, pub burger in fact, most pubs/bars i go to make much better burgers than this, and you don't have to spend $12-$15 on it. bottom line, the restaurant did have a fresh and cool atmosphere with lots of people like us there. but all in all, each couple put in $75 (with tax and tip, and one drink each) for a meal that should have only been maybe $50 a couple.

    Fun for us

The New York Magazine review mentions there's an occasional elder in the crowd well, that was us last night when we took our son and his wife, her parents and our daughter for dinner. We like to go to trendy places with them, and this certainly fit the bill. It was a mostly young crowd, which we enjoy, and the food was excellent.. Everyone had a good time and the bill was in the moderate range. I'd love to go back!

    Restored my Faith in Burgers

After trying an organic burger earlier in the day, I thought I would never eat burgers again. I wanted to go out to eat for dinner and heard good things about The Smith from friends and reviews. We stopped by since it's really close to our apt. The atmosphere is really cool and chill, felt cozy. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. When the food arrived, I took one bite of the burger and was in love. It was so good and then the fries were even better. They were skinny, plentiful, and salty. I scarfed up my entire meal and it was recently priced. My friend ordered the lamb and wasn't that impressed so I wouldn't recommend that. Def. try this place. Cool and good. Yummy Yum Yum.

I come here often, great place! Bar, great for food, fun, and drinks. Bartenders are fun and professional, great vibe. Busy, but laid back. Great deals on food and beer. Sundays do burger and a beer for $12, amazing deal!
