    great place

I've been to the the Smith a couple of times visiting my daughter who happens to be one of the hostesses. We came on my husbands birthday. Service was wonderful . First we had the mac & cheese WOW! One hundred times better than my home-made. The calamari was so tender not one chewy piece. It was just alittle to salty. I had the deluxe burger. The best every. My husband had the flat iron steak which he said was very tasty. The dipping sauce was way to salty. The dessert which we shared was bread pudding with ice cream and candied nuts. Just right to end the perfect day.

get your act together unpleasant meal

The place looks swanky, the bar is nice, and the servers are friendly, but the food is not good. The salad tasted like something from my local bodega, and the chicken sausage dish was overpriced and without taste. Don't even think about touching the spaghetti with meatballs... you may as well walk around the corner, pick up some Rao's, and make it on your own. I wanted to like this place so bad... but unfortunately, I hated it.

    Great Brunch

Great brunch and wonderful service. They take reservations which is great if you have a big group. The egg white omelet is made with brie and is delicious. Service was attentive. It gets packed after 11:30.

    Food Okay, Service Poor

Maybe it was because I was there with my boyfriend and his parents, but our waiter was over-attentive to the point of rudeness. Between him and the bus boys constantly coming to our table to see if we were ready to order or for the check, we felt like they were trying to rush us out of there. My boyfriend's parents commented on it several times. When we were asked for the third time in two minutes if we were ready to order dessert, I finally said that we were feeling a bit rushed, and could he give us a few minutes? Not twenty seconds later, a bus boy came by and tried to clear away plates of food we were still eating! When we laughed with frustration and explained the situation to him, he told us that his boss was pressuring him to turn tables quickly. Well it definitely showed that they care more about turning tables quickly to sell the most food than about giving anyone an enjoyable, relaxed dining experience. The tomato soup was good, but I thought the food was nothing to write home about either. We got the potato chips with blue cheese sauce, which were really soggy. I won't be making a repeat visit.

    Great!

I came here with a bunch of friends for my birthday and couldn't have been happier with the food, service, atmosphere. The salmon was fantastic - and the brusselsprouts were SO good. They were shaved. If I hadn't read that I was eating brusselsprouts, I wouldn't have known.Mushroom ravioli was very tasty, so was the burger and the porkchop. The potatochips w/blue cheese fondue was great - the cheese is drizzled over them. Mmmm. I asked about the ricotta gnocchi, it's not made from potatos, but little bites of ricotta cheese. If I wasn't worried about eating all of that cheese at one time, I would have tried that as well. I had the birthday cake for dessert, I think that's the only thing I wouldn't recomend. It was kinda dried out like it had been around for a few days. But by that time I was so full, it didn't really matter. All in all, it was a great bday dinner!

    Working out the Kinks

We were seated rather promptly, but it took over an hour for our order to arrive, as we watched patrons that had arrived after us receieve their food-It was a simple French Toast + Steak & Eggs. The waitress was rather gracious and apologized for the mix up, and offered us some of their yummy biscuits on the house. They also screwed up our bill charging us for the mimosa that was included in the brunch price. All in all the food was actually pretty good, perhaps the bestd French Toast I've ever had in the city. My boyfriends steak was just about perfect, and a pretty hefty portion. The decor and all around mood is a little cheap and forced for my taste (it still resembles the prior occupant, Uno's, a little too much) Seating was cramped. Outside of the poor service, chalk it up to a fluke, the food was actually quite tasty. Maybe they're still working out the kinks?
