    I will not return

Loud, uncomfortable chairs, hot a stuffy. No air conditioning although the outside temperature was 78 degrees. The mussels were tasteless, As for service it was hard to get attention of waitress. The final affront was as they cleared the table--- theydumped all sorts of table detritus-paper, leftovers, etc. in the pot of mussels sitting in front of me.

    Great neighborhood restaurant.

The Smith is one of those neighborhood restaurants that win you over with a combination of accessible prices, great execution of most dishes on the menu, and ambience. I almost always start my meals with their amazing roasted tomatoes soup, which is by far the best I've had anywhere in the city. I follow with their excellent steak salad, the steak cooked medium rate, which comes dressed with a simple yet excellent balsamic and olive oil mix.

    Bustling, bananas, booze

Love this place. I think the french fries are the best!! Cocktail list is super yums. Try the Angry Teacher and a steak and fries and you will be blissfully happy. It is a very loud fun resto. Enjoy.

    Massively disappointing

I used to come here weekly and started ordering from here as well (back when it was good food and service). We have been beyond disappointed recently with the food coming out Luke warm or late the last few times. When we order from here (have now tried over 10 times) they forget a salad or a side almost every time (we've had one successful delivery). I am giving up on this place and especially for delivery. There are a million great restaurants in NYC and this place can't get it together.

    Not recommended

This is my second time eating at this place, first time was great! Second for brunch it was disappointing. I order the country breakfast, wasn't good. My mom order fried calamari and a salad. The salad was good, the calamari was ok until we got to the black stick . We asked the waitress what is it, she didn't know took it back to the kitchen. Came back with a new order said it was a french fry. OK, did not look like one. Then there was a busboy sweeping the ceiling. Thankful it was not over my head. I felt bad for the customers that were sitting there. Very disappointed, I thought I found a gem. Maybe it was an off day, I won't find out!

    Completely Tasteless

I am genuinely confused why so many people love this place. I have never had such bland food. I don't know how you can go wrong with combos of great ingredients, but the Smith manages it. And it's not cheap, either. But maybe my taste buds are overstimulated. My friends who like bland food like this place. I had a bland breakfast and then decided to give dinner a chance since people rave about it, and that was bland too. Also, keep in mind that the brunch deal includes a beverage, but they don't serve it before noon (I think?) on Sunday as per NY law. So if you're going in for an early brunch, know that you are paying for the drink inclusive in your meal, but you won't be getting it unless you have time to stick around post-noon. But the waitress was really nice about letting us sit there for a long time so we could eat our breakfast slowly and have our drink after noon.

    Blah food at high prices

Pretty good beer selection, mediocre food mostly due to preparation, unjustifiably high prices considering the unimpressive quality of the dishes.
