Made our morning!
Excellent service, recognizes the value of the customer. Waitresses work very hard to please you and are friendly. Management is present and leads the charge to provide you with a great experience. Never an empty cup of coffee!

Great Value, Great Service
Wonderful breakfast place if you like good food and (mostly) great service. We were looking for a place to get a good breakfast at a reasonable price, and this is it. Most of the waitstaff gave us prompt, thoughtful service, so we came back every day we were in NY on vacation. We had one of the best waiters we've ever had--he brought us steamed milk for our coffee and refilled our cups continuously . . . took pride in patiently getting our complicated order down perfectly and served promptly.

The red flame diner...
The wife did not like the way it looked...(looked like a nice diner to me - you could see in the plate glass windows). Being from Texas, we have an unquenchable thirst for ice tea after walking around mid town west. I knew I was in trouble when the tea came out small ice cream float glass. The waiter was prompt but forget about refills. Eventually we did get another ice tea. Luckily, the wife did not want her water. After much complaining, the wife finally admitted her cesear salad was really good! I keep telling the wife that the secret to success with this site is to look for what you want - do your research. Thank you MenuPages! We went about 7:00 pm. The floor was unclean and some of the waiters seemed to be interested in summing up their tips. We always left at least 20% tip...

Better places to be found
Went here after reading the reviews on the MenuPages, and this is one which did not stack up to the praise it received. The breakfasts we had (bacon and eggs, hashbrowns, toast and coffee) were on par with fast food joints. And, in fact, mine was only warm, not hot. The waitress was typical for a New York employee in the service industry - not rude but seemingly in a hurry and not quick to smile. Like many I encountered in Manhattan, she was responsive to courtesy but the first to offer it, and you have to not be afraid to make a preference known because it will be honored if you do so (e.g. I asked for my toast dark and it was [however, through our waitress, I observed that 'dark' is understood as the type of bread, whereas 'well-done' conveys the toasting time. So, it's wasn't a bad place to have breakfast, but not one I can recommend over others).

Excellent place to start your day!
Just got back from our trip to New York. The doorman at our hotel recommended this diner for breakfast and he wasn't wrong. Food was excellent and good value for money. We went there every morning and was a great place to start our day before the miles we walked! I'm missing the waffles already....

This diner was excellent. I had great food, I strongly reccommend the egg white omlets. Great muffins too! Staff are friendly and efficient and menu is varied and tasty!
