    What a friendly Greek diner.

My family and I ate here three times when we were in NYC recently. The only time it was crowded was when we went there for lunch. The other two occasions were around 6:00 p.m. and the place was mostly empty. The Red Flame serves great diner food. We had sandwiches and fries, which were always terrific, and one day my son had pancakes. I'd tell you how those tasted, but he wasn't in a sharing mood. Considering he ate all three completely -- and they were on the large side -- I think it's safe to assume they were good, too. So go to The Red Flame for a good, fun meal. But please don't go blabbing to everybody you know about how great it is, because my family and I will be back next summer, and the last thing I need to see is that the place has become overrun with tourists!

    Very good experience!

I ate here everyday while I was visiting New York at the end of May 2009. It was wonderful for me. The food was good. And the wait staff is very good at what they do. They did get to know me and my preferences, which they catered to. I thought the pricing was fair, too. No problems at all. They also offer take-out, and that's an interesting process to watch as the staff takes and prepares the orders. I will go there again when I visit New York next year. It's worth a try, folks.

    Not so hot--I agree

An extensive menu of sub-par food—soggy fries, rubbery burgers. Standard diner fare in an uninspired atmosphere. High prices in relation to quality of ingredients. Was once an easy go-to lunch option close to the office, until a coworker discovered hair in her grilled cheese. We've moved on--you should too.

    Warm, Inviting, Memorable Cantina

The Red Flame is my favorite spot in NYC hands down. On a recent visit, we were simply enchanted by the friendly servers and the warm glow of the peach colored walls. My dinner was a perfectly prepared steak that was as good as ANY steakhouse. I can't say enough about this place, just check it out!!

    Not so hot.

I've got to disagree with most of the glowing reviews on this site. While most of the food tasted okay, the hash browns were probably the worst I've ever had; I think they were freezer-burnt. The atmosphere was fine, and while the prices aren't high for the Times Square area, most places serving diner-fare in Manhattan offer better value. The particular waitress serving us was extremely rude, but the wait staff looking after neighboring tables seemed reasonably helpful. All in all, I'm certainly not going back.

    Very good breakfast

The Red Flame was an excellent choice for breakfast, during our stay in NYC. Stayed at the Millenium Broadway as was a short walk to the restaurant. Food was very good and they had quite a selection. Will go back during our next visit to NYC.

    Great NYC Diner

I eat here regularly and the food is always excellent and reasonably priced for NYC. Perfect diner in midtown Manhattan.
