Many friends have told me about their great times here and I found they were right on! Food was great! Service pleasant and unobtrusive, and atmosphere was loud but festive. I will definately be back!

The Red Cat has such a cozy atmosphere that you would forget that you're even in the big apple! Their wine selction is outstanding and their steak is to die for! If you're looking a dependable NYC top notch restaurant, look no further!

I liked the ambience of the restaurant. There weren't very many choices. Aside from the main menu there was only one special and it was an appetizer. I really only like chicken and the one chicken dish they had really wasn't very flavorful. I did get the pumpkin salad which was good. I would have been happier eating a dinner-sized portion of that. My husband got the pork chop and loved it. I wouldn't mind spending the money on good food, but I really wasn't too impressed.

I feel compelled to write in after the previous review. I went for a romantic dinner a few weeks ago and Red Cat exceeded every one of my expectations. I have recommended this restaurant to everyone I know! We went on a Wednesday night around 8:30. I was able to get a reservation the day before. It was crowded, but not too much, and our waitress was very efficient and professional. My only complaint is that I can't eat here every night (too expensive). The food was FANTASTIC.

We had heard about Red Cat for years and wanted to experience what everyone said was a terrific dining experience in NYC. Unfortunately for us, it was anything but. The place was full of loud, obstreperous diners who filled the room with a din of noise and a decidedly less than chic atmosphere. The food was so-so at best and our waiter appeared to be embarassed by all that was going on around him and us.

If you want excellent food, in a great restaurant, you must go to The Red Cat. I can't say enough about the service, the ambience, and especially the food. Normally, I am a finicky eater but I loved everything I ordered here! And that's a rarity for me! Please try the bacon tempura (delicious!), the perogies (amazing!), and the duck or steak (out of this world!) Last bjut not least, finish off the meal with their delicious praline dessert. I gurantee you will love it like I did, it was all truly amazing!

The food, the setting, the feeling the place leaves you with--that you are sophisticated, that you are no fool, that you are not in the middle of some stupid scene, that herein lies longevity--dress up or not, sit at the bar or a table--it feels warm but not placatingly so, the food is inventive without being adolescent, and it is a place where 25 year olds who know how to befriend 75 year olds will be at home and vice a versa.
