    Native New York thumbs up

I have been coming to The Red Cat before all of the Art Galleries moved in the neighborhood . Always consistent , great ambience , delicious food and won't break the bank . Don't go without ordering the Tempura Green Beans . Sit at a Table or Sit at the Bar . The service is discreet and personable

    AMAZING!

I don't know what everyone else here is talking about. this place is amazing! i had a fantastic time, everything was fantastic. from the food and the service. it can be pretty loud, but it makes it lively and it's a good busy restaurant, so it's too be expected.

    Overpriced!

The food here is okay, but not worth the price. The menu is way too limited.

    ehhh

Went there last night with the girlfriend. We ordered the perogies app, was very good. I got the lamb ribs with sweet potato hash - Lamb was very tender, but under-seasoned, and almost all fat. Sweet potato hash was really not good. it was sweet potato, frizze salad, red onion, walnut, and large blue cheese chunks. I didn't understand it. Reminded me of something my ex would make. My girlfriend got the cod, was okay, i personally thought was a bit overcooked, but she liked it. Service was pretty good, but i guess they wash the glasses in the back of the restaurant because every 5 minutes a worker was walking through the dining room with a big red crate of hot glasses - was a little weird, and not something i'd expect to see at a nice restaurant. Overall, i was not that impressed, and if i went back again, i'd try two different entrees.

    excellent meal

Not sure what was going on with those last two reviews -- nothing described in them is now on the menu, and our experience with the food and service couldn't have been more different. The shrimp corn cake appetizer and the pork chop and salmon entrees were all superb. Server and host/manager were excellent. We will definitely go back -- I wouldn't heed the negative reviews.

    Gone Down Hill

Unfortunately, we ate there a week ago...I had a calamari app. that was a disaster: calamari, tomato, couscous on top of soggy bread. 2 starches? It was unappealing on every level. I was starving so I ate it. Overall, all of our entrees were way over-salted and the service was crappy. Host a little sassy too. Who needs this?

Not what it used to be

Went back tonight after a long time away and sorry I did. The food was fair at best. Salads were nice and fresh, but the mains were dull, lacking seasoning and flavor. Shared the duck - needed more flavor; the pork tenderloin (cheese on top was really odd and overpowered the natural flavor of the pork); and the roast sucking pig (pulled pork special). The pig was good, but where was the crackling crispy skin that is the best part of suckling pig? Must have been saved in the kitchen for the chef and manager. For the price its just not that good anymore. Typical story - a restaurant that once was is no longer what it used to be. Skip it.
