    poor service

Nice ambience, average food, poor serviece (i.e. couldn't get the waiter to give us our check, charged for an item not recieved) and to top it off when I got home the back of my dress shirt had several droppings from the birds flying around in the restaurant..

    Great brunch

We had an excellent brunch here. The atmosphere can't be beat.

    Hit & miss (wtf)

I come to NYC only a couple of times a year on business - I love food & look forward to the excellent options that are available. I was recommended park by a business contact & the first time I ate here it was great. I decided to go back during the same trip & it was a completely different experience - food was disappointing to say the least. It was along the same lines as other reviews: took a long time although they weren't that busy, our red wine we ordered was poored without being tasted first for our approval & then placed in a wine bucket beside our table (what the?!) and left for us to pour for ourselves for the remainder of dinner. We had dishes arrive periodically, not by our server. They were brought out rather gruffly, announced and more or less slammed on the table by an anonymous bus boy. That's enough ranting & raving... Simply put, it is a beautiful space but it is completely unreliable.

    Could be so much better...

I never do this but last night was rediculous. We arrived early for our reservation to find the restaurant 70% full but they would not sit us early, nor on time either. They gave us a table in the corner of the garden room away from any heaters and it was freezing! This was the third time that I came here with a large group for a party and the third time I left unhappy and wondering why when the space is great and people clearly are interested in coming to the place. Food wasn't bad and was reasonably priced - drinks are quite $$$.

    Tiny portions

I was there for brunch with a group of 17, so I'll let the poor service slide a bit, since she was basically by herself, but the portions!! it was a joke. The entrees were on bread plates....or at least they looked like the same size a bread plates. Thankfully I wasn't super hungry. If I was...i would have had to get a whole other meal, someplace else, just to feel satiated.

    I always bring folks here

This place is an old standby for me. I Love the atmosphere, and I only order heafty dishes if I'm in the mood to really eat a lot. The burgers are great, and a good value. Same for the sandwiches. I also like the feeling of vastness. In New York, we are so often squished and rushed. In this place, I never feel any of those things. I love it here, and I will never stop coming!!!

    Not Going Back

We live very close by, but only recently tried this place. Went on a Saturday afternoon. Hostess wouldn't allow us to sit in open atrium area, claiming it was "all reserved for today," yet only about 20% of the space was occupied when we arrived and less when we left. Service was poor, food was horrible. Steak salad was so tiny that it was like an appetizer and they had a couple thin slices of well-done, grizzly, ugly, cheap-cuts of meat. They never asked how we wanted it cooked (it looked pre-cooked and warmed up). The bagel and salmon was atrocious. This is New York! The bagel was a joke. The cream cheese was so thinly coated on the bagel that it was almost completely dissolved into the surface. The salmon was cheap, lousy quality. and it was so thin you could hardly taste the salmon on the bagel. Ridiculous. Nice atmosphere, but there are simply too many choices in the area to waste your time here.
