    Disappointing

Although I thought the food was very good, I was disappointed with the service and atmosphere. When I was there for lunch on a weekday, there was almost no one else in the restaurant. Even so, our waiter was completely inattentive and seemed to have no sense of the ideal pace at which the meal should proceed. We had to flag him down for everything. It was also freezing cold, even though we asked them several times to go easy on the air conditioning. I would expect more for the prices they charge.

    Not Great

Last night was the first time I have eaten at the Westside Palm and it was the last time. I've eaten at the Palm and the Palm II and always had a great steak, not last night, my steak was not the quality I expect at $42.50 also my friend said the same about her fish dinner.

    Our favorite...

We go here at least 2 or 3 times a month, as we live in the area, and are ALWAYS happy when we leave. Being unadventurous, I always have steak, and while the filet is good, I like my steaks on the rare side, and it's hard to get a really good rare filet. But the NY strip and rib eye are the best i've ever had, bar none. The outside is always perfectly crispy, and the inside tender and juicy. My fiancee has tried almost everything on the menu and has loved them all. Her favorite is probably the lamb chops, which she says are amazing. The salads are great, but be sure to ask your server about their size, as some are big enough to split 3 ways! All in all, it's our favorite steakhouse.

    McPalm

As so many who grew up in NYC, I had the occasional dinner at The Palm. I remember wonderful, deeply charred steaks, rare on the inside and with a discernable, almost crunchy exterior, enormous "burnt edged" lobsters and fun shared sides. During a recent visit I had a particularly tough strip sirloin, cooked in the manner of Steakis Generis, meaning a finely marke but very light char. The steak might well have found comfort in a thousand, far less pricey surroundings. The side dishes were fair, the cottage fries far too dried out. With home in Vermont, I generally prefer more exotic Manhattan charms, but the occasional great steak is a treat. This meal did not satisfy that occasional need. The place, on a mid-week day was very busy. Times and tastes in steak might have actually changed.

Dynamite Steak Once They Got It Right...

Went there for the first time recently. I have tried all the other steakhouse legends and the filet was on par or better with some of the best. However, when the meal was first served everyone at our table was given the wrong orders, which we did not find out until after we started eating. Some of the steaks were cooked to order and others were not. In all fairness to the staff there, they did what it took to make it right including bringing one order back three times. Once everyone got the meal they orginially ordered the food was great. Try the 16oz filet Oscar style with the bernaise sauce along with the 3 cheese potatoes au gratin and the clams oreganato as the appetizer. Pricey considering in our party of four, one of us only ordered an appetizer and the bill was still 270$ not including tip. But for an NYC gourmet steakhouse what do you expect? All in all a good experience, would definately go back despite the lack of attention when it came to serving our meal by the waitstaff.

    Always Top Shelf Food

You can count on The Palm, as the food is always top shelf. My favorite is the Rib-Eye is to die for...Wine selection is wonderful......KILLER chocolate layer cake Friendly service - The bartenders are first class - always the most consistent best tasting Martinis
