The Palm is a cut above!
Perhaps The Palm West has changed in the year since the last review was posted, but, I was blown away (in a good way) over the 4th of July holiday. I went with a group of friends for dinner since we were all stuck in the city, and, decided to make an evening of it and go to dinner and a show. We selected The Palm West in spite of so many negative reviews on this site, and, we were pleasantly surprised! I must state none of us are out of town tourists. We know dining in the Theater district comes with a premium price tag (that's what happens when you want the convenience of being right there) and so we entered with low expectations. Well, SURPRISE! Our reservation was in place and we were greeted in a very friendly manner. Our wait staff were helpful without being intrusive. And the food? Better than a lot of the non-chain steakhouses in NYC! Ok yes, get over it, The Palm is a chain, but, I have news for you. It's a great chain, and, I enjoyed it so much I signed up for the 837 Club. Prices? The average bill for our group was $70 per person with appetizer, a glass of wine, entree, side and coffee. What else can I say? Other than I found a new favorite steakhouse in the Theater District!

Very Disappointing
The Palm West Side has taken on the attributes of a Hell's Kitchen diner, except the food isn't as good. The Caesar salad dressing was sour and bland at the same time with croutons that definitely came out of a box and cheese that tasted like it came from a green can. The ribeyes were OK, but certainly not worth $49 and definitely had never been the 24 ounces the menu claimed. One steak had to be sent back for a re-fire because the medium rare was closer to raw. Fried onions were overdone and rubbery. The hash browns were soggy and slightly greasy. However, the spinach was excellent. The waiter was civil at best, probably because we weren't spending a fortune on drinks. The wall caricatures seemed tired and worn. And the noise level made conversation a real challenge. The place is beginning to feel like a Times Square tourist trap instead of a destination for a great steak. I had eaten at the Palm before and it had always been memorable. It was this time too, but for the wrong reasons.

Best steak in NY
I have been to the Palm dozens of times, and every time the food is delicious and the service is excellent. Best filet mignon I've ever had, always cooked perfectly, and the tomato mozzarella appetizer has the freshest softest bufala mozzarella you could find. I recommend The Palm to anyone who asks me where to go for good steak.

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful
My mother, aunt, and I recently dined at this restaurant and found everything to be perfect. Our waitress, Jill, was very helpful and extremely nice and the food was delicious. After reading some of the other reviews we were a little wary of dining at The Palm West Side but now we are oh so glad we did. I would certainly recommend this reataurant!

Very poor for a Palm Restaurant
This restaurant really needs some attention. The food was not good at all, the service was poor. No napkins, we had to ask for them. We had to ask for water refills and other drinks. This was my first time in New York. I will go to New York again, but will never go to another Palm Restaurant.

What you shouldn't hear about
After going to the Palm for several years, I must say that it has turned into a place little to be desired. Food is boring, service is lack luster, and the management looks at people like they are only dollar signs. I am pretty sure that all the management is changing, and as a customer, I shouldn't know all the details. I want to enjoy a good meal after a tiresome day of work. Instead, I have been wrapped up in the politics and gossip of the restaurant while just sitting at the bar... I hear about Mgrs private lives, whether they should leave.

Palm
When my husband & I dine out in Manhattan or when we're away, we always look for a Palm restaurant. My husband loves steak so it's usually a good choice. The Palm West side was great when we went. We had excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service. My husband's steak was cooked as ordered and I had the fish my server suggested. It was beautifully prepared and tasted wonderful. It may be a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The placed was mobbed w/pre-theater groups but we were neither ignored nor rushed.
