rude waitress, and slooooow...
my friends and i used to like going here, but in recent months, i get more and more turned off with each visit. the waitress is horrendous...i realize she's tending to the whole restaurant in a cramped space, but she could at least be nice to her customers. last visit, we just walked out she was so rude even before getting a table. but as for the food, they have a few great basics, well worth the value (veggie burger!). some of it is bland (don't get the tofu scramble, or the beans over rice!). for me and my friends, we'll be doing delivery only...

Raised Prices and made portions smaller!
Loved their veggie burger until they raised the price and took away the potatoes from it. I understand costs go up but to raise prices and take away items they use to serve with an item. It went from being $9.25 for a burger w/ homefrys to now close to $15. You have to order them separate. Sad

there's other veg places in e. village worth visiting
I went here for brunch a week ago and learned it's under new mgmt. My favorite waffles have changed and they've added various seeds which deterred me from choosing that item. The pancakes were thin and small. The service last Sunday was pathetic. I waited for over 15 minutes for my first glass of water. Even the new, exterior painting is an eyesore. That will be my last visit.

excellent brunches
the brunches here are excellent! you often have to wait for a table. the food is great too. i don't agree with the review below. the only bad thing about this place is that the space is small and a little cramped.

where's the chef.
having tried almost every vegetarian restaurant in new york, i honestly think this might be the worst. the dishes are like bland, tasteless, uninspired versions of what they should be, and a few things i've tried on the menu were shockingly off. the arame and hijiki salad was so bitter and unpleasant it made me nauseous. several of the brunch options tasted like the chef just spaced out-- no sugar, salt, or flavor whatsoever. the gazpacho tasted like supermarket salsa. the cornbread was completely dry and stale. the ethnic dishes (japanese, mexican) were a complete joke especially since there are cheaper, better, and more authentic options in a two block radius. it doesn't take a foodie to realize that this place doesn't offer anything other than a menu that a vegan can blindly order from. if you want real vegan cuisine, try caravan of dreams, counter, atlas, blossom, s'nice, wild ginger, red bamboo/vp2, soy, zen palate, angelika...

Not kosher
I agree with the bland and not-so-great reviews. If you're in the neighborhood, there are many better places to go. Also, this restaurant hasn't had kosher certification for a while or they haven't had it posted like they used to.

The brunch will convince you, trust me!!
Please try this place! I was planing on going to one of my other favorite Veggie restaurants, Counter, and due to the holiday, it was closed, but I found this place right around the corner, and boy-o-boy was I surprised! I brought a friend who is vegetarian (I'm vegan) and we were both completely satisfied with their options of vegan cheese or regular cheese, vegan"eggs" and "omeletts" or the real deal. It gets crowded, so you might have to might have to wait a few minutes for a seat, but it's worth it!
