    Excellent, across the board

I don't know if all these other reviewers came on an off night - I have been to The Mussel Pot twice, last night being one of them. It is always a wonderful experience. The mussels are fresh and with flavorful and exciting choices of combinations, the staff are friendly and fun, and the ambiance is lovely. I'd go back any time.

    Would not recommend this restaurant

The restaurant is cute (like so many others in the village) but nothing outstanding by any means. The food was very very very bland, no taste whatsoever! Hardly any broth to eat the mussels with. The sauteed spinach were steamed with no flavor at all, not sauteed in garlic and oil. The service was poor, had to inquire multiple times about our entree. Waitstaff not really interested if we liked our food or not. Couldn't wait to leave.I really don't have anything positive to say. If I had to spend the $100 that the bill came to, I definitely would've gone elsewhere. Thank goodness we had a TravelZoo voucher for this!

Lived in the neighborhood for the last 4 years, and I have never had a more unpleasant meal. First of all, we ordered blue point oysters as an appetizer, which came out on a warm dish and not on ice. The oysters themselves were room temperature! This is inexcusable.. For specializing in mussels this restaurant leaves a lot to be expected. The three different types of mussels we tried were overcooked and the sauces were bland at best. When the manager brought over a new plate of mussels it made no improvement on the previous dishes, still overcooked and inedible. We paid, leaving our full meals on the table and walked out.

    Tasty food and great service

I've eaten here plenty of times and the food is always great. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very cozy and beautiful. The staff has always been friendly and the service perfect. I highly recommend to give this place a try.

    Don't do it

I went here with a group of friends. The hostess was adorable and sweet, but that is about the best thing I can say about the restaurant. Once seated, the service was poor. It took a very long time to get our drinks and we waited almost an hour for mussels. Once we got our mussels, we were all disappointed. The sauce that I get from the jar is better than the sauce they served me. Even the bread was not fresh. I have been to Flex mussels many times and wanted to try something new. Never again. Trust me, if you want good mussles, good sauce, good bread, good service....Mussel Pot is not your place!

    amazing food, ok service

The hostess was beyond obnoxious when we entered because we had two children with us; and seated us in the corner, which we'd actually prefer. Other than her attitude, everything was great. I ordered the salmon and it was amazing. Maybe the best I've ordered, ever, anywhere. And I'm out quite a bit. My friend got a mussel pot and they were great also. The mussel portion was small for the price, but still very good. They charged us $18 for a child size portion of pasta with butter, a bit steep.

I have eaten at the mussel pot three times as I live nearby and love mussels. However the second time I went was a poor experience but I thought I would give it another try and took my parents when they came into town. The third time was the most disappointing restaurant experience of my life. The waitstaff is condescening and rude. Not once did our waiter ask if the food was ok. When he brought out the food (after waiting nearly an hour) they forgot the mussel forks which after asking for them took another ten minutes and I had to ask twice. When our drinks were empty our waiter seemed ot have disappeared and it took thirty minutes to get another soda. Then there's a door to the outside patio in the back and the air was windy and freezing and not one waitstaff shut the door. When I started sneezing and complained to the manager he argued with me that they were closing the door when it was open the entire time. The mussels are small and I am so upset I wasted my dinner with my parents at this restaurant. Next time I will definitly be going to another mussel restaurant when I am in the mood for mussels even though it is farther from my apartment.
