Wanna be served by surly hipsters?
Then you've come to the right place! I used to love coming to Mud with a friend or a book...get a nice cup of coffee and a salad. They do have a nice cheese platter and a back garden. But the past year or so the have been staffed with the crankiest frustrated artists this side of the Williamsburg Bridge. The waiters ignore you, chat with each other, slam down your entrees like they are doing you a favor, and tend to forget the simple things...like water and slilverware. Even the baristas/bartenders in the front give you attitude. It makes me sad. It USED to be a really great place. Sigh.

Hobnob on the LES
This 'spot' is quaint, filled with character and a unique menu. I've been for lunch and look foward to sharing sacred brunch moments there, with someone special. Great coffee delivered with friendly service. Nice eating area outside, walk thru the neighborhood and window shop the boutiques nearby. An all around nice experience.
