    the best

Love this place! Great atmosphere, fantastic waitress, excellent food. Their french toast is the best I've had anywhere in nyc...nicely flavored with toasted almonds and a hint of cinnamon and topped with generous portion of fresh fruit and just the right amount of yummy syrup. Compliment with a side of perfectly prepared bacon and you've got the ideal sunday brunch.

    Brilliant

MudSpot is, hands down, one of the best places for good coffee in the 5 boroughs. I am very particular about coffee, especially the quality of my lattes, and MudSpot really hits the mark. In addition, their food is phenomenal. I disagree with the other reviewers who have written off the service- the baristas and the waiters are kind, knowledgeable, and creme of the crop. I have never felt unwelcome or snubbed. Treat them with respect, and they will return it.

    The BEST in NYC!

I went to Mud for the first time yesterday (Nov 08), and I am now completely in LOVE! A little hard to find, but once inside I was in heaven. The atmosphere is so chill and homey, and the service and food is outstanding! I had the french toast, and also tasted the banana pancakes- SO GOOD! Their coffee is the best I have ever tasted- so rich and flavorful. They put just the right amount of milk and sugar in for me, too! I also had a chai latte, and it was hands down the BEST chai latte I have ever had. Oh my goodness. It pretty much changed my life. The whole thing was a little pricey, but SO worth it! It takes me a little over a half hour to get there from where I live in Manhattan, but I know I'll be visiting at least once a week because it is just that good!

So glad to live so close

Great brunch. Known for their amazing joe. Always great music. The restaurant is such a hip nook. Def the best brunch spot. Do it.

    mudrock

I've been going to mud for a few years now and have never had a problem with the staff or the service. Granted there is a line when you're looking to get something to go (and there's not much elbow room) the staff is friendly and kind when it is your turn to order. There is a reason their cup jars are always full. I always leave Mud with a smile because the people are nice regardless of the endless flow of customers and the food/coffee are always out of this world.

Ouch, and I am being Nice

I am Running, Running late to work. I am attempting to navigate which coffee house to stop into to grab a shot of espresso in order to bolt myself to a full and thriving functional adult, and there it is: The Mud Spot. I walk in, the baristas ignore me, ignore me... ignore me. I am standing there waiting; precious minutes ticking by, and finally I walk out the door. The Service is Pathetic, the lowest grade possible: Nonexistent. All the sugar in the world is not going to dilute the bitterness these hipsters emulate in their forever-I-m-too-hip-to-admit-I-need-another-1000-dollars-from-my-ever-dwindling-trust-fund, yet too faux-sophisticate to admit that I never learned how to work. Ouch.
