The Moxie Spot

i just had to write a great review for the moxie spot. no, this is not a restaurant to go to without kids. no, this place doesn't have gourmet food, or atmosphere. but why would it? this is a restaurant for kids. it caters to keeping kids social, happy, and busy. there are toys, crafts, games, lots of space to play, and free movie nights on friday. and the parents get something out of it too -- they get to sit back with a beer and eat with their kids. and they also get to sit back with a beer while their kids are playing and safe and happy. birthday parties here are the best value in town -- they supply the food, games, prizes, and schedule for your kids (and plenty of adults). you only have to bring yourselves and a cake. it's the least expensive and most fun option. we were very happy. the people who work at the moxie spot are great with the kids. the food isn't bad, it's just basic. and that's fine! there are plenty of healthy options, it's tasty, and it's suited for parents and kids alike. and that's all it needs to be. we've been going to the moxie spot for over 4 years now with our kids, and we are always grateful for their presence. they deserve glowing reviews.

Ordered vegetable panini, Caesar salad with shrimp, vegetable miso soup & grill cheese with french fries. The panini was really a melt on mediocre bread - had it actually been pressed it might have been better. The Caesar salad seemed to be dressed with cheese and vinegar and the shrimp were inedible – tasted like they had been cooked some time ago and warmed up for the occasion. The vegetable miso soup came with fresh tomatoes in it which gave it a very unpleasant aroma and taste. My 8-year-old son said the grilled cheese was unappetizing and he is usually guaranteed to eat most grilled cheese sandwiches. The fries were okay. The indifference in the overall service and lack of quality in the food, leads me to believe that they are more focused on catering to regulars who come for the opportunity to allow their toddler bang incessantly on a metal wall. Not worth the price or the experience.

the food here is above the quality of an average kids restaurant. The delivery is okay, but when you go there the atmosphere makes up for it. Buy the steak, it is great.

If you don't have kids this place should not even be on your radar. The food and service are below average. If you have children you may be willing to overlook these things in favor of the very child friendly environment.

We had a poor experience ordering from the moxie spot. The food was absolutely tasteless and soggy and they forgot a part of our order, which they charged us for. When we called them about it they were apologetic and promised to send it right away along with a free soda (coke). When the food came (30 minutes later) the soda was emptied all over the bag, completely soaking the food so we couldn't eat it at all. It was just an overall disaster and left us wishing we could turn back time and order chinese.

Its a well built place with lots of nice pictures of boats. The staff was very nice as well but for the price that they charged for food in small portions kind of annoyed me. The fries were kind of soggy, since i work a block away from the place it was convenient for me just to drop in and grab a bite to eat. The beverages were expensive as well. This place is only good if you work near it and just want to eat in a hurry not a weekend place too much money sorry.
