Great Experience!
Had lunch at The Modern on May 23rd. Ordered from the pre-fixe lunch menu (2 courses and dessert for $38). The lobster was wonderful, the pork loin was absolutely the best. Then came dessert! Not only did we have wonderful desserts but they also brought a selection of hand made chocolates and cookies and brownies. This is an awesome place to eat. The service was great. Sat by the window -great people watching. Great atmosphere. Walked out through the Bar Room which seemed loud.

A tremendous dining experience
The Modern is unlike Danny Meyer's other restaurants - it is elegant and sleek rather than boisterous and warm. If you go looking for the same spirit displayed in his earlier restaurants you will not find it, but you will find this restaurant as enchanting as the others but in a different way. The service is impeccable, the food is extraordinary and the setting is exquisitely appropriate for the MOMA - understated with immense subtle design. In our dining experience, we had the space and unobtrusive service that allowed for great conversation. We left delighted with the caliber of the cuisine and feeling remarkably well cared for by the exceptional staff. The Modern was a delight!

What a night
Looking for a restaurant in this area during a snow storm brought us to The Modern which had just recently opened. We went with a New Yorker who eats in fine dining establishments frequently. He suggested we try it having been there himself the week before. Due to the weather no reservations were needed and we had our pick of table. The room was beautiful, service outstanding (of course, hardly anyone was there), and the food was delicious. We kept tasting each others' soups, salads, entrees, and desserts. Loved the menu which served appetizers and half portions. It was fun to build a meal. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to all our friends. We spend a lot of time in NY and are familiar with over a hundred restaurants in mid-town. This is a winner!
