The Meatball Shop

A lot of hype/buzz for this place. Wasn't overly impressed as I tried a variety of their "meatball" offerings and to me, they all tasted like mush. The only real distinguishing thing about them was the some were really spicy, no big deal. The sauces were average at best. Hey, bottom line, I like my Meatball Parmigiana heros more than I care to admit and overwhelmingly prefer a nice big hero with extra burnt melted mozzarella cheese..and here's the kicker, I like a nice simple meatsauce over the meatballs..don't need truffle sauce or creamy mushroom sauce. So, net net, although this place had a decent environment, if not a bit too loud, I've done it and as they said in Goodfellas, "that's that"

I'm here 2-3x a month and love it. Their sides and salads are good, I usually get the smash or naked balls, it's just a solid place! Just wish they delivered and I'd get it more often.

I love Meatball Shop - I've been to the other locations around the city. Yes, it's a bit pricey for meatballs but I think the food is pretty good. I live around the corner from the UES location and was expecting to be in there all the time once it opened but when I went for my first meal at this location, it was clear that this was nowhere I wanted to go again. The hostess was completely disorganized - they put me down for a 30 min wait and when I took a seat at the bar, it was very clear that there were several open tables the hostess just didn't notice. Aside from this, they play the music so loudly that you have to yell to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. I haven't had this experience at any of the other location so I'm not sure why it's like that here. It's impossible to have a conversation and it made for an unenjoyable meal.

Their $10 meatball sandwich is the same at the $5.99 meatball hero I get at the pizzeria that comes with a soda. No value at Meatball Shop. These days, I don't spend more than I have to for anything that's so common as a meatball sandwich. And just three meatballs!

this place CERTAINLY wont. Not worth the time, service is FAR below par and a meatball is a meatball. Even living a block away I would not go back. Unfortunate because I really hoped someplace decent would have gone in that space....
