Swell South Indian in the Village
There aren'r many places around Indian Row on 6th Street that feature the great foods of South India, so this is the only place to go if you're in the area. Food is very well prepared, and quickly served. The decor isn't really great, and it wouldn't hurt if the AC was turned up a little. f ew visits ago, Phillip Glass was at the next table!

Outrageously good!
This is THE place for dosas and idlis. I can't get enough of them. The curries are ok but not my favorite - stick to the first page of the menu for amazing treats. Try something new. The service here is really helpful. The lassis are great as well - not too sweet. Just refreshing and soothing. Could eat here every week.

The only one!
The food and service here are excellent; whilst I did get the wrong change/bills before - (count both well). If you want to know which place has the tastiest, most authentic, and most reasonable South Indian food - you've found it; unless you get an invite to a friend's home. What's with the decor? At least Balduchi's decks out in Bombay Co knock offs. How about something more tropical and green? Thanks to the owner, chef, and staff for consistently incredible food.

The best south Indian restaurant around!
This has become our favorite restaurant. This is by far the most authentic, and healthy south indian food we have had anywhere. The service is great, the cooking is always consistent. I would highly recommend Madras Cafe to everyone who enjoys clean healthy south indian cooking.

I have this place on speed-dial
Tonight I went here, starving, and ordered a take-out meal and a lassi. I was all the way home when I realized I had forgotten the lassi. I put running shoes on my poor aching feet and ran back to get it. It was well worth it and I can't wait to eat here again. The food is just perfect, not too heavy, and all the flavors come through clearly. The prices are good and the restaurant is clean and comfortable.

Absolutely amazing
The best South Indian I have had outside of, well, South India. The dosas are incredible, and the yogi thali is perfection. Very healthy too -- great non-greasy home cooking. I'm certainly going back next weekend too.

Best south indian in the city
The service is very sweet and polite-- but not very fast. They are often busy and the service suffers as a result. But that's okay-- attitude free service, FANTASTIC authentic south indian food, and great prices make up for all of that! The sambar rivals Keralan sambar. It's GREAT! I have yet to eat sambar on this level outside of India. If you want to taste "home cooked" south India food, and feel like you've left the restaurant behind, go to Madras Cafe.
