    Texas visitor more than once!

I visited The Landmark Tavern for the first time in 2008. It was a very pleasant encounter. The owners were present and gave us very gracious, personal attention. The drinks were fantastic, the food was excellent. I have been back to NYC several times, and have made it a point to go to Landmark every time. I always introduce my guests to this fun place, and they as well, return for a visit when in town.

    very pleasant experience

Ate here pre-theater. Had a salmon special with mashed potatoes and vegetables - plain, unfancy food but all delicious. Attentive service - our needs were anticipated even though it was busy. Homemade ice cream dessert was also very good. Would definitely go again.

one timers- never coming back to eat

waited 50 minutes for a not-so-good sirloin.seems that as a bar it is good place, but the meat was tasteless.

    a great time

Always a great time. Never too busy to give personal attention. The smiling staff along with the shepards pie and fish and chips will keep you coming back!

    Unpleasant experience

Landmark Tavern is historic, it is a great looking old place, and it's fine to have a few cocktails. But beware the food - it is way below average for any pub. My friend, who I was treating for his birthday, ordered the steak medium-rare. The waitress comes back ten minutes later and asks, "Did you say medium rare or medium well?" My friend told her medium rare. About 15 minutes later his steak arrives - WELL DONE! Between the time the waitress asked a second time how he wanted it, the cook would have had enough time to rescue the steak. My friend sent it back and orderded some scallop appetizer that was acceptable at best. My eggs benedict were so overcooked, they were like hard boiled eggs. The hollandaise sauce was dried on top and it came with spinach, which I didn't mind, but I did not order eggs florentine. It is very disappointing to cut into eggs benedict and not have the gooey yolk ooze out. All in all this was a subpar meal and we made our thoughts known to the waitress/bartender, who was nice and who wasn't responsible. But as I told her, I would never eat here again.

    Needs Improvement

These are the nicest folks in the coolest old tavern in NY. The brew's good but the dinner side of the menu needs work. The steak, fish, and noodles are only so-so and in this town, they need to do much better. I hope they pare down and refine their cuisine, cause this place deserves to be a winner.
