I went to Kingswood with 2 other friends and without a booking, we waited about an hour, but it was fine as the bar area is just awesome. Being an Australian, I was looking forward to having a meal at a New York restaurant owned by Aussies, so I went in with high expectations, and let me tell you, they were definitely met! Awesome food - the Risotto was out of this world, so so tasty, and my Steak was just as good, my friends loved their meal as well, and with only five days left in New York - I will definitely be going back before I leave! Nothing to complain about from me - wow... thanks for a great feed!

Went to Kingswood for the first time this week... overall, I could not have had a better experience. My date and I were sat promptly, the waiter was pleasant and attentive but not overbearing, and the food was out of this world. I've never had lamb so tender and light - - mushroom risotto for the appetizer was creamy and comforting... loved the overall casual-chic vibe as well.

After our friends made reservations here I was thinking it was going to be awful after the bad reviews, so I was surprised that it was actually good. I had the crab linguini to start, which was incredible, I would absolutely go back just for that pasta. My friends had the peach salad, and the pate special of the night for their appetizers which were both good, but not great. For dinner, they both had the burger, which they raved about. I ordered the boulliabaise, and it was terrible. Completely inedible. Even after that disappointment, I would still be back. Both the wine that I ordered and the linguini were so good that I would go back and have both every night. Service wasn't great, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the other reviewers experiences. Try it!

very cool atmosphere. but everything else was lousy. waited two hours for a table despite constant promises that we were next. owners begged us to stay. against better judgment we stayed and were finally seated. server was nice, if average. food was underwhelming. oh, and very expensive. the bill came and the owners were nowhere in sight. would have expected some comps after such a nightmare.

Went for work, so didn't pay. But that was only reason I wasn't more disappointed. The food itself was ok. Tasty french fries, but hamburger--which had been raved to me about--was dry and sweet, tasting like meatloaf. Servers looked pissy when we asked for ketchup and mustard but should have asked US if we wanted that. Servers also messed up the order, and one of our party had nothing to eat while. Someone who knew a bit better what was going on came by and apologized saying it would take about 4 minutes for his entree, so he encouraged us all to start. It's late October. Peaches were on the menu at what's supposed to be a "seasonal" resto. Lost points for that. And too bad, too, since the salad with crispy prosciutto, mascarpone and white vinaigrette sounded delicious. With figs as it was on menu would have been nice; with peaches instead we skipped it for scallops which were done perfectly.

I am a big fan of Ruby's because it makes me feel like I am eating a great brunch with great coffee at Bronte Beach. Therefore I was really looking forward to Kingswood. However, I was sadly disappointed with the food experience. I ordered the beet/goat cheese mixed green salad and the pumpkin/squash pasta. Basically, it tasted like something I could have done a better job with at home. Also, there were about 10 strands of pasta that constituted my main course(very small portion for $18)! The good news is the bar area was lively and gorgeous which lead to alot of fun after the sad meal!

I recently held a small dinner-party at Kingswood and could not have been happier with the results! Their service was professional and friendly (must be all those British/Austrialian men, they're charming!); the atmosphere is reminiscent of a favorite friends home, you walk in and feel instantly at ease and leave feeling like you had a fantastic time; the food is decadent yet rustic and comforting. Favorites were the scallop and risotto starters, the lamb was consistently cooked to perfection and perfectly accented with the herb crust. All my guests left raving about the place, and now they can't wait to come back!
