    Yay!

Had dinner here last night with GFs and we had fun. We generally like places that start with "The" as it makes them sound special, and this place is! Cool neighborhood, trendy crowd and friendly service. We were not wowed by the food but still had fun with the scene. Go and be seen!

    Poor treatment from manager

We recently dined at the Harrison. The food was decent (although not remarkable) and our waiter was very good, but at the end of the meal we had a question about our bill. We spoke to a manager, who was defensive and condescending before we even got started. She was rude and unaccomodating. It would not have taken much to make us happy - just an acknowledgment that we were correct and she could have comped our desserts, but instead the manager was just completely nasty. Needless to say, she ruined what was supposed to be a great night out. I would never go back to the Harrison.

Disappointing food, boring atmosphere, nice waiters

I've never written a review for any restaurant before but I felt obligated to after being seriously ripped off at Harrison. I was really disappointed by this restaurant. The main courses are not only a rip off, but they are straight up poor. I had the liver dish. I couldn't taste anything because it was so salty! The kale was literally a big green pile of salt. Same deal with the duck-fat French fries. Also the atmosphere is boring, they could have made more of an effort, it looks like a boring upper east side restaurant but dishes taste like those of a soup kitchen. HIGHLIGHTS: the prawns were tasty but way too salty as well and the biscuit was dry. The best part of the restaurant is the staff which is very nice and attentive.

    Perfect experience

From start to finish, this was a perfect meal. The lamb ragu pasta is exceptional as well as the grilled octopus starter. The poached cod is the best fish course I've had in the city, the flavors combine beautifully. Lovely atmosphere of casual, elegant romanticism and liveliness. Service was attentive but not overbearing and helpful. I cannot say more about how wonderful this restaurant is.

    A Great Experience

My first time there was last night. OpenTable said they were booked so I just went anyway hoping for a spot at the bar. The hostess was very nice and separated two singles that were initially together for a foursome. My waiter David was friendly, attentive, and quick throughout the entire meal service. I started with the Crispy Toutlings which I thought was a creative appetizer. Very tasty. My entree was Skate Wing, and being a fan of Skate Wing for over 15 years, this was hands-down the best Skate Wing I have ever eaten - period. I I will go again to try other menu items.

    Swimming in Oil

I went on a company dinner there. The meal was free, but still an unpleasant experience. I asked the waiter for the Spanish Mackerel and asked if he could make it light and cook it with very little fat. He said, sure, very little fat. The dish came back swimming in olive oil. On the bottom of the two fillets was a 2 inch thick puddle of oil, smothering even all the veggies. I couldn't eat any of it!

    Hit and Miss

Everything fried here is good -- the crispy troutlings, the shrimp -- in the apps dept. The octopus app was OK. In the entree dept., both fishes were forgettable to not very good. My wife got the cod with blood orange and other citrus -- tasted like a mushy dessert. I had the bacon-wrapped trout, which was flavorless and not even very appetizing. A truffled orzo side, on the other hand, was addictive and decadent. For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding was fantastic whereas the single slice of birthday cake, while a great fun idea for a dessert, was pretty good. There were some chocolate crunchies inside that made it nice, but beyond that: Eh. Not really worth a return visit, but if you'd managed to order with a lot of luck, you could leave happy. That shouldn't be the case at a good restaurant, though.
