    Great place

I've been coming here since the day they opened. And go at least once a week. They've been open for 15 years(?) approx. I have brought many people here. Many of them Californians like myself. No one has ever been even slightly disappointed. This place is real good. The salsas are made fresh daily. Fresh homemade chips. And as a matter of fact, my friends and I have noticed that the food has even gotten better over the last couple of years. And they have excellent fish tacos on the weekends in the summer. (Not on the menu). Just ordered them now for delivery...

This is the place I've been reading about?

Tried this place for the first time today. Got a chicken burrito and ground meat taco. Whoa, talk about salty! Quality otherwise was so-so, not great or bad. But both items were super-salty. Had I not been starving, I wouldn't have eaten my food. But I did, and now I have a thirst that cannot be quenched, literally. I won't be back. Maybe if it was cheaper...

Best Mexican food in the City!

Incredidble food! Huge portions, awesome 'hot' salsa from smoky tree-chilies. Friendly staff, and an intimate space. Half the restaurant IS the kitchen, and I think why it tastes so good! There another chain restaurant in the city by the same name: it is not the same place! If you haven't been to this location, you haven't been to Great Burrito!

    Favorite Mexican in the neighborhood

Food is fresh, inexpensive and delicious. Best hot salsa around.

    Great? Hardly

Nothing great about the burrito here...average at best. The color and questionable crunchy texture of the chicken in my burrito on a couple of occasions has made me avoid stopping here. And those little cannisters of watered-down tomato sauce you give me on the side don't count as salsa either. I was here a couple of times in the summer and the AC was constantly out of service....although the place and food are not a complete abomination, that's three strikes in my book.

    Highly disappointed

Don't know what people see in this place. I had the enchilada mole and my wife had shrimp burrito. First off they give you a bowl of chips with about 10-15 chips in it. Personally I think it's an insult, I would have rather them not give them, rather then just tease their guests. The shrimp burrito had 6 med size shrimp in a big burrito wrap. Maybe I would spend $5 had I known what I known now. The enchilada mole, great sauce with 2 finger sized enchilada, about a tablespoon of bean and about 1/2 cup of rice. It was ok, but for $13, it was an insult. The wait staff was all but useless. The only perk is the BYOB, but doesn't really matter, was first and last time I will ever eat there.

    Muy delicioso

Being from South Texas, I'm particular about my Mexican food. The mole is fantastic. The tortilla soup is as it used to be made before it became popular, savory and spiced properly. I felt like I was back home while in Manhattan. Papel picado hanging from the ceiling, Mexican music playing in the background, great food and service.
