I have to say, while it's definitely not the cheapest option in town, I have thoroughly enjoyed both of my dining experiences here, once on a date with my boyfriend and once with a big group of friends. I thought the service was excellent, we all loved our food, and the drinks were delicious. I'm surprised that all the recent reviews aren't better, to be honest.

All I can say is attitude is learned and comes from the top, no? I have been to General Green a few times and theres always a major attitude going on. Thought Id give it another try for my friend and have decided thats it - no more. The food is very good - but the dishes are small and the attitude is major. Life is too short to be treated as if the waiters are a guest in your home. The busboys hover around your table ready to snatch away plates and considering they advise you to share plates I found that incredibly annoying. Behavior like this is taught from higher ups. Theres so many places where the vibe is relaxed and the service is happy -- not arrogant.

LOVE their sides of mashed potatoes, fries, and mac n cheese. It's a little pricey but those mashed potatoes are worth it! The grocery in the back is adorable!

Wanted somewhere for breakfast on a weekday. Food was sad and minimal for the price. Waitress was apathetic. Eggs were runny. Coffee was bitter. All around not an exciting experience.

Long story short, this place ruined my birthday. I rescheduled my reservation at the superb no. 7 because I was running late and didn't want to rush the experience. It was after 9 and I wanted something decent, so my boyfriend and I ventured down dekalb. I settled here because I was starving. The service was sub par, the food took forever to come despite how empty it was and the food was meh - just ok, nothing special. Everyone knows food tastes better when you're hungry - and i was starving, so it's probably worse than I remember. We had the deviled eggs - which was one egg btw, mac n cheese, green beans (the worst of the lot! $8 for a crappy small portion), the steak (we shared) and a single cocktail - it came to $100 with tip and i nearly lost my dinner when I saw the bill! We had a phenomenal dinner the next night at no. 7 - 2 apps, 2 mains and 2 cocktails came to just over $100. Wis I hadn't wasted my time - still upset over the experience and it was 3 months ago.

Me and the gf had the most enjoyable dinner/experience at GC. Not sure what the below reviews are referring to. In fact, this is my second visit and was as good as the first. Nathan the host, was most gracious and friendly, took the time to chat with us and was very polite about the wait and estimated seating time (Sat nite around 9:00pm). He acknowledged our request and gave us an update within 5 minutes. We opted to sit at the bar and had the most friendly and professional service from bartender Tracy. She made us feel welcome and explained all the nuances of the assorted fancy cocktails. She also answered all my questions (probably slightly irritating) about the food, specials etc. The food was great (as I rememberd from my first visit). The signature steak was perfectly cooked (rare), full of flavor and soo tasty. The mac n cheese was properly garnished with browned breadcrumbs and packed a cheesy punch. And hey – lots not forget the prices. VERY reasonable. I value good food, good prices, AND good service. Tracy and Nathan are examples of true service professionals who raise the dining experience to a higher level. The food was great, but it’s the personal service I received at GC that encourages me to return. I’ll be back!
