The Flame Restaurant

This was our first time at the flame and it was a little disappointing. The food was okay, but the service was a little erratic. Also, the food was very expensive. Who charges $2.50 for a lemonade? They treated it like it was a freaking cocktail. It had lemon wedges and lots of sugar and everything. The waitress took our order, which she did a while after we were seated. Maybe 5-10 minutes or so. She gave it to the chefs in the kitchen and then went and sat at the bar, chatting away with the owner for there was some sort of difficulty or something. When the food came, it wasn't presented all that nicely, but it wasn't bad. So we ate our food and after we finished it took a while to get the check. Not our best dining experience.

I come here in the morning after I get done with the night shift for breakfast sometimes. I get seated right away, my coffe cup is always full and the food is ready quick-- what more can you ask for from a diner. They also have whole page of healthier choice items such as egg white options, fruit and oatmeal, etc. I would absolutely recommend.

Great diner food, in a clean restaurant served by friendly waitstaff. My wife and I stopped in for an early dinner, and we did have a piece of diner cake...and it was pretty good! Would definitely go back.

i dine at the Flame quite frequently because i live right around the corner. i enjoy to the food but wouldnt say its the best dinner ive been to in the city. my only complaint is that the waiters and cashiers can be a bit rude at times. once they get to know they become friendlier but i sometimes feel that they are bad intentioned and couldnt care less about you dinning experience.

I have been going to/ordering from The Flame once or twice a week for almost four years. The service is friendly, prompt and efficient and the staff is great about letting you sit and talk if that's what you want to do. The food isn't five star, but what do you expect? It's a diner, and the menu is huge, the food is good and the prices are reasonable for NYC. Desserts are great, too. All in all one of my favorite places in the city comfortable and familiar. I recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood

During work hours I wouldn't think twice about calling the Flame for delivery, but after 2 am there's not much else in the neighborhood who can make and deliever your food in under thirty... if this is what you consider 'food'.
