Comfortable environment, food....?
Went there for breakfast with two other people. We felt totally at home and welcomed. Non-stop refills of coffee and hot water. Our meals were disappointing: the eggs were too hard and the string potatoes/home fries? Cold and tasteless. Juices were fresh and plentiful. VERY friendly and attentive wait staff. Very reasonable prices.

Consistent and Reliable
I have been going to the Dish since it opened. Much of their menu is quite good, some is excellent and some is so-so but once you learn what is good, you can have a great breakfast, lunch or dinner here at a fair price. Steve, Andreas and Pedro are all great and they remember you and what you like and don't like. Omlettes can be a little dry so I always ask for mine not too cooked. The chicken cilantro soup is amazing. Burgers are very good but not cheap if you trick them out. Beef Stroganoff or anything similar (goulash etc) is lean, tender and tasty. The salads are nice and fresh. The crab cakes with macaroni and cheese were scary. Greek food is usually great too. My favorite diner!

The best moderately priced restaurant in Chelsea
I only discovered The Dish when I moved to Chelsea from the UWS a few years ago. Although a notch above a diner, The Dish has become part of my local haunts. Execellent quality food served by a friendly staff. Don't expect gourmet cuisine- it's just plain good. Specials include soup (a choice of four or five) or a salad. And the prices are fair. My only gripe is from time to time, I have to send my food back to be heated- it happens especially if I'm dining upstairs with friends- But I still return and love it.

Jovial Home away from Home
Having been a patron of The Dish since it opened over ten years ago, it has become my home away from home. This is not just another Chelsea Diner. This is a place where the owner Andreas always has a warm smile and hug for his guests and the staff take pride. The food s varied from Omelletes to Hamburgess, Chicken Francaise to Portobello Mushroom salads etc. There is a wide variety of food and it is well prepared and served with a smile. I have my favorite dishes (Chicken Diesel from the Healthy menu, Chicken Francaise) and the Chicken Cilantro Soup is wonderful! As with all diners sometimes when it's extremely busy something can be not 100%, but Andreas takes pride in his restaurant and the creating a sense of family and community with his patrons. I guess The Dish is our "Cheers" and can be yours to. If something for some reason is not to your liking, share it with Andreas, and he will make sure the recipe is adjusted and improved. Bottom line, my first stop many times for a relaxed meal with a friend or after a long day...knowing that a I'll have a nice dinner and be met like family coming home.
