    wow where to begin...

Was here on a Friday night about 2am. Never, never again. Blasting music, dirty tables, indifferent and overwhelmed servers, totally average food, cold food that should be hot and decldedly shady and intoxicated fellow patrons. Whoever the manager was, they had completely lost control of the place. Our server actually told us, "This is nothing, you should see it some nights." We couldn't wait to get out of there. Nothing to recommend it.

    It'll do

I went here the other Sunday with a group of people in my fitness group. We all decided to learn how to eat out healthily. So we split everything to compensate for the huge portions. The service was solid. The fruit salad platter we ordered was huge, colorful, and very fresh! They made great choices of very complimentary fruits. The ceasar sald with chicken was meh. Standard fare with nothing to impress. The turkey burger was ASTOUNDING!!! I'm sure it's even better on the brioche roll it traditionally comes on...but we ordered it on 7-grain and it was great! And you MUST try the Tuna Nicoise Salad! SOOO GOOD!!!!! I'm not quite sure what the Chickan Paillard was trying to be...but it was the same chicken breast we were given with the ceasar salad but with a mystery sauce overtop of it...and the brown rice wasn't very brown...or was soaked in butter...because it wasn't steamed and you couldn't taste the usual nutty flavor inherent to brown rice. We also ordered greens instead of carbs with all of the dishes and those were quite fresh. And the dressings we ordered on the side were delightful. We obviously made a lot of requests for changes to the menued items. But our server never blinked an eye and gladly accommodated everything. The space had a very open feel. The establishment was very clean. The servers and hostesses were quite attractive. It was primely located and offered a nice traditional diner/Meatpacking fusion experience. You might expect better cuisine in the Meatpacking District (I sure do)...but I still think its a good spot if you want to dine in that area and have a nice experience without being bent over when you pay your bill.

A great place for dinner w/ friends

I recently went to the Diner w/ a bunch of old friends and we had a great experience. We all ordered something different and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Especially the burger and disco fries. Our waitress was lovely - very attentive and friendly and on the ball. Although it was quite crowded, we never felt rushed and we lingered over several rounds of drinks and a fattening dessert. The price was very reasonable by NYC standards. The only negative was a bit of a wait for the bathroom. Not enough to keep me from going back again soon.

I'll give you fair tasting food, but that's it

It was on a Tuesday at 2am. Food was cooling off, as I waited to get the attention of the waitress, since no butter was brought out with my toast. Not only that, but they weren't crowded, I was alone, there was nothing unusual going on, and still, I had to wait a good half hour just for my bill to come. Actually a half hour went by, before I was ASKED if I wanted the bill, even though the reason was clear what I was sticking around for. The dinner itself tasty...but Huevos Ranchero will only yield you a single spoonful of beans which is pathetic.

    Good

I ate here twice recently and was satisfied, if not impressed with the experience. The burger was good and the bartender serving me was very polite and attentive. The fried chicken was good and bad -- a good size serving and nice a crispy on the outside, but on the bottom of the piece was soggy chicken mush. I like both of my sides and thought it was a good sixed meal for 12 dollars.

    The Diner is overrated

Food is pretty good but the service is not good. Waitress struts over to table like she is a supermodel. Poor memory and the staff would rather read magazines than do work. Busser dropped a pickle and didn't even pick it up. Needs a new staff and one that can ove quickly on feet. Used to be a great spot now it's a after thought.

    No thank you!

Went here on a late Sunday afternoon. Service was not very good. Waited over 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our soup was not brought until after our meals were served. The food was just ok. The guy at the table next to us left his entire meal untouched - telling the waitress that the chicken was "not edible". I wouldn't go that far, but I definitely will not be back. The only good part was that Kate Winslet was seated right by us. This place is apparently hip, but I think I prefer a good meal over good looking people.
