    What a great Experience! Not!

What has happened to this place? I used to live on Houston St. and used to frequent the Cupping Room on a regular basis, Brunch (food) was always good and service was always fast and satisfactory. I moved uptown bout 2 years ago and last week for whatever reason the Cup. Room popped into my noggin and I decided to have brunch there with a few friends. DISAPPOINTMENT!! First, the mexican omelette that I ordered was bout half the size of the omelette that I remembered. The fries were soggy and my friend actually took a bite and spat it out,and he is not a picky eater either. And the service...what service? The waiter that we had did not crack a single smile the entire time, did not care to see if we were happy with everything, as is he was just there to take the order and bring the food, that's it. AH, just a tip for you, you are a waiter, you actually have to "work" to earn your tips. And are there managers in this restaurant? If there were, you guys were not doing a very good job "managing" this spot. All in all, I don't think I'll ever step back into the Cupping Room again.

    Eating Experience

I ate there by myself tonight, and the service was deplorable. I had to signal the busboy to bring me the following things that my waiter had not and was seemingly unwilling to do: A second cocktail, bread (during the two cocktails), a fork for dinner after my salad plate had been removed, sugar and a spoon for my espresso, a check. Some significant training is in order, or a realignment of who is getting a pass and for what reason.

    Are you kidding?

This was perhaps one of the least enjoyable experiences that I have ever had in a restaurant. The service was slow, It took ten minutes for the server to come to the table, and then he acted as though we were disturbing his conversation with the bartender. My silverware and water glass were both dirty (I understand this happens, but how about a little quality control guys?) The food was seriously over-priced. The portions were large, but the quality was lacking: most neighborhood dinners do a better job. The menu lacked imagination, any consideration of food-pairings, and any semblance of cohesion. The bathroom was absolutely filthy and small . . . one of the aforementioned is forgivable. We needed to flag our socially focused waiter down to get the check, once again distracting him from something obviously far more important than his job. We would have complained, except for the fact that we realized the person sitting at the bar watching TV was the manager. With so many other and better options, there is really no reason what-so-ever to visit this place.

my boyfriend and i love, love, love the cupping room...we go there all the time...sunday brunch is delicious...the coffee bar is our favorite spot to sit and relax on a lazy afternoon...if you don't know about the cupping room..you will...the service is impeccable...

    Wonder Bread's SoHo Cousin

Four stars for food??? Are you kidding? I ordered a turkey burger and fries for lunch. Any bar or diner in this city could have made an equal or better burger and fries, probably at a more reasonable price. The burger was a flavorless lump of avian meat on a spongy, mass-produced bun worthy of a suburban school cafeteria. Although the fries looked pretty with their golden brown bodies and charred tips, they were soggy and lukewarm. Even a healthy dose of Heinz ketchup couldn’t rescue them. The service was not terribly attentive, probably because the place was packed. We had a long wait after ordering, again, in all likelihood due to the early Sunday afternoon mob scene. Sure, the atmosphere is nice, but beyond that, this place is just another slice of pricey mediocrity.

    Love It

The Cupping Room is a staple. I've been eating there for 2 years now and the food, service, and atmosphere have been consistently pleasant. Its cozy atmosphere is warm and embracing, and is one of the few places that makes you feel like you have escaped the city. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

    Cute Brunch Spot

My best friend and I do brunch every weekend at a different place. This time we ate at the Cupping Room and were not disapointed. For the price, the food was pretty good. I had the eggs benedict and she had the eggs florentine. The atmosphere was great - very cozy w/a skylight and plants in the windows. Food came out quickly and was hot. A few complaints: my eggs were a little over cooked (her's, however, were great), there could have been more ricotta in the eggs florentine, and drinks didn't come with the brunch as some places offer. All in all it was pretty good. I want to go back and try their non breakfast foods.
