The "Design Your Own Dish" option is INCREDIBLE. You can pick up to four items or any proportioning thereof. Preparation is traditionally stir fried or steamed or anything else you could probably imagine. The produce was fresh as fresh can be. Side sauces are provided if you wish or you can have them incorporated into the whole dish. The sauce selection is varied and of superior quality. The delivery seems almost instant. For custom orders, I find the price very reasonable. I love this place!

So glad we gave this place a try. The food was outrageously good (and the portions as well) and the service was a treat. What a gem. We had the hot and sour soup, the seafood dumplings spicy style, lamb and eggplant casserole (special of the day) and the pork in black bean sauce. Everything was superb except for the pork in black bean but that is my fault since I think the waiter was trying to politely stear me away from it. I love black bean sauce but this one was bitter and acidic tasting. Really not what you want in a dish. The eggplant and dumplings were special standouts. Cannot wait to return. The atmosphere is fine but a bit bland. Fancy looking wood setting with jazz. Nothing to compain about. Overall great experience.

Clean, wood-panel interior with soothing jazz on the sound system. Super value dinner for 2 for $36 including bottle of wine! Food was above average and good variety of choices - the overall experience was wonderful. An improvement might be Asian music vs. the jazz - still a great buy in NYC.

This is a pretty good lunch place. The food comes quickly and is nice and hot. The only downside is that they won't give you more crispy noodles when you ask.

The Cottage is the ultimate Chinese food experience. Great food (HUGE portions), amazing and friendly service (I think my water was filled literally eight times), comfy place, and great prices. You can't beat the $15 appetizer/entree/2 glasses of wine dinner deal. The music - instrumental pop - is pretty terrifying, but other than that, this place is flawless.

Food at the Cottage is good -- not great -- but it's so cheap and so fast, that it's really the best value in town, particularly if you go for the prix fixe deals or for lunch. One of my favorites: vegetable chow fun for under $6!

Been eating at the Cottage for almost as long as it's been there. The food is always good, and the price is right! Sometimes the servers are abrupt, but it's still a great find for a relaxing meal. Chinese unlike any other!
