I discovered this place with my girlfriend. I had no idea it was a chinese joint with a name like cottage. The spicy Schezuan dumplings are hands down the best ive ever had. The scallion pancakes are also the best. If you like the idea of a whole fish try the crispy fish, I had a whole fried fluke. Having worked in a fish market for 10 years I can tell you it was fresh and delicious. It has become my weekly chinese place and delivery is always timely.

I live about 3 blocks away from the cottage and there is also an ollies and a ruby foos nearby. The cottage definately is the best chinese cuisine in the area. I've never ordered anything from there that isn't superb (and i order from ther a lot). Without a doubt they are the best chinese i've ever had, and extremely well priced.

After reading great reviews about "The Cottage," I decided to give it a try. Alas, poor. Perhaps it was the particular dishes I ordered, or perhaps the chef was having a bad day. Nonetheless, the dishes were so bad that I would rather order from somewhere else than to give this place another chance. I ordered the schz. dumplings, which were plastered with thick sauce -- to the point that I couldn't taste anything. I also ordered the chicken bunzao. This not only had barely any chicken in it, but also tasted burnt. I could not taste any flavor whatsoever aside from the burnt sauce. Both these dishes came out to about 11.50; I don't find this a particularly good deal either. The decision is yours, but if you do end up ordering food from here, at least stay away from the two dishes I tried. Unless you want to punish yourself, that is.

We have lived on the uws for years and never tried this place, but were never truly satisfied with any delivery places, so we gave it a shot. Wow. The food is truly incredible for te price. A hidden gem, we have become regulars. The BEST inexpensive chinese in the area by far.

Fantastic food at the most reasonable prices. You will not find a better deal on the UWS.

I was visiting friends and looking for a place for lunch. The specials usually come with pork fried rice and egg roll with pork. Since I don't eat meat, I told them white rice and veggie egg roll. I wasn't sure if they would get it right with their broken English, but they did. The homestyle tofu for lunch is $4.50. It's a small portion, but with the egg roll and rice, it's plenty of food. The sesame noodles were ok, but I like them with a bit more peanut sauce. Overall though an excellent lunch.

I've tried half dozen Chinese restaurants on the UWS...this is by far the best....also happens to be the most reasonable. Highly recommend!
