The food here is good but the service is really rude...

I just ordered delivery of 2 "hunan" dishes and hot and sour soup. As is only fair when delivering subpar food, it came quickly. The soup had the consistency of muddy rain water poured through a collander and the taste was, one suspects, much the same as whatever would be left in the collander. The hunan dishes were bland beyond belief. This was once a fine place for Chinese food but like so many of it's neighbors it has become uninterestng and unpalatable.

The cottage used to be my favorite restaurant in my area. The food has always been terrific but the service is very rude especially if you are a woman and you like to spend an hour to eat. I have been going there for 11 years and I always leave a 20 percent tip but the women that work there are beyond rude. If you there more then 45 minutes they literally say time to go and stare or bring the check. They never do it to men who tip less. Miss this place. It is a good value but they stress me out and who needs that. In this economy they better give better service or they will go under like many other chinese restaurants.

A special spot. Ambiance is informal, cozy, comfortable, friendly (although very busy on occasion). The staff is friendly, helpful, fast, knowledgeable, efficient, polite, accommodating. And the food is consistently good

The food arrived less than 15 minutes after I placed the order, but I suspect that's because it had been sitting around all day until someone ordered it. The chicken was dry, the spring roll was mushy and dripping with grease and oil. The rice wasn't bad, though. I ate the rice and threw the rest away.

I used to love this place and have fond memories of going there regularly in the 80s. I am visiting New York this week and decided to go back for old time's sake. I was so disappointed, things aren't what they used to be! It could have been that I picked a bad time (early lunch), and that they staff were just in a bad mood, but the dish I ordered (mango shrimp) was really not nice. It was described as "hot and spicy" yet I needed a liberal slathering of hot sauce and about half the bottle of soy just to make it taste. And I could swear the free wine was watered down. Perhaps this is an evening place, but I shall not be going back. RIP.

I've placed an order for delivery and had them ring my doorbell as soon as 7 minutes after. Food is always piping hot and delicious. Moo Shu Chicken and the seafood dumplings with peanut sauce are my go to favorites.
