Welcome back Cottage!
So, I decided to give it another go last night, and lo and behold….pleasant service was received. The dumplings remain the best thing on the menu. The soups were good, and the pork with garlic sauce should now be renamed garlic with shredded pork. Now if they could only stop using so much celery and carrots in their dishes. If you tell them that you do not want celery and carrots, they will comply with your request. Welcome back Cottage.

Best chinese on upper west side
Went their tonight with family. Ordered their fried dumpings and they were the best I've tasted in a long time. From other places the dough is too thick. The Cottage's is crispy, and fried perfectly. Also ordered their Lo mein, fried rice and beef with broccoli. Everything was perfect, inexpensive and delicious. Even my nine yr old loved it and he's the pickiest eater I know.

Very good place for Chinese food.
There are always reviews about restaurants that are negative, but it may also be the writer's personal taste. We have been in the neighborhood for 42 years and have eaten often at the Cottage or had it delivered. We have never been disappointed. Some things are better than others, but that is normal; not every dish can be perfect not even when you pay $200.00 or $300.00 for one meal.

Best Soup on the UWS
The Cottage is the perfect place for guilty Chinese take out/delivery. Try the scallion pancakes, the sesame chicken, but above all order the corn, chicken and egg drop soup! Delish. You won't be sorry.

Really disappointing
I live in the neighborhood, but recently ate here for the first time. It will be the last. The food was acceptable, not awful but not particularly interesting either. The atmosphere? WHAT atmosphere? The service was dreadful (the place was not particularly crowded or busy), with some of the orders for our party of five confused or forgotten. There are many West Side restaurants worth a visit; this isn't one of them.

uneatable
I have been ordering from cottage for over thirty years. The food was never great, but today was the poorest. I shall not order from here again.
