    Great Place

Been here 3 times and it gets better and better. Service is superb and the steaks are great. Sure, it maybe a little expensive but I feel that you get what you pay for. Will keep on going back.

    Outstanding!

I never write reviews, but this place is just so out of this world it deserves my first. I've eaten here three times each for special occasions and the foud is just out of this world. I love steak and this is my favorite in the city, better than all the rest. EAT HERE, YOU WILL THANK ME!

    Consistent

Having been to this restaurant about 5 times, I have always had a great meal. We started with some shrimp and then moved onto a perfect seared tuna with 3 sauces, steak and side dishes of creamed corn w/bacon, asparagus and a very decadent coconut cream pie for dessert. The service is some of the best I have had at any steakhouse. I would return over and over.

    Excellent experience for NY Steakhouse

With all the great places to eat in NY when out of town guests or clients visit they inevitably want steak. Even if they say they want something different –and we go to a Craft type of place they order steak. So if it’s steak on the request line I go to a steak house in NY. I decided to try Capital Grill. Glad we did. It so far surpassed the other steak houses I have been to it’s not in the same category. Let’s start with the ambience—perfect, not noisy (you can carry on a conversation), tables not slammed together, spotless big bathroom, and good temperature (not too hot or too cold). Everything from the reservation call, coat check, and wait staff was dead on, well trained, pleasant and professional. Ok you say, what about the beef? Excellent! All cuts of steak were ordered and I actually tasted all the preparations and was satisfied. Food arrived cooked as ordered. The sides we ordered were good, especially the au gratin potatoes. Dessert’s excellent, wine list well thought out. I know it’s a well run chain restaurant that takes credit cards, staff treats nobodies like somebodies, facilities clean and the room is not overheated but given that it is near the Chrysler building-- it is NY enough for me.

Good Looks and Great Food Too.

I took the suggestion of the hotel conciege that I who really enjoy the Capital Grille. Once I walked through the door I was immediately impressed; warm, dimmed lighting and a friendly staff. The wine list is impreccable and the menu along with the evening specials was exceptional. You have to try the Stovli-Doli Martin. I enjoyed the meal so much I made reservations for my friends for the next night, because I just knew they would love it., and they did. It topped our visit to New York.

    Overpriced if you ask me.

I'm not going to lie. The steak was good and a fine piece of meat. For $45, the steak should come with sides. Instead, potatoes are another $15. This restaurant is great if you have money to burn. The atmosphere and service were exceptional, but just not worth the price in my opinion.

    No Reason to Go

My wife and I went here because the menu has everything one could want at a steakhouse -- tartar, lettuce wedge and a nice selection of steaks. In fact, the menu is better than most other steakhouses. The problem, though, is that the dishes are not done well. Most importantly, the steaks are not even in the same league as other steakhouses. When compared to the Palm and Sparks (in the same neighborhood) and Del Friscos, Smith & Wollensky's, and The Strip House (elsewhere in the city), Capital Grille simply does not compare. Given that Capital Grille is no less expensive than other high end steakhouses, there is simply no reason to go there given the other, better, options.
