normally, when i go to the capital grille, i can count on great food and great service. i went here today with a girlfriend, since we were looking for a good meal and great value during nyc restaurant week. we should have gone someplace else. from the moment we requested the restaurant week menu, we were flat-out ignored. i get that we weren't going to leave a $200 tip, but we did plan on tipping well for good service. i thought i'd at least get the soda i ordered. i'm honestly appalled that we were treated so poorly. i've gotten better service at diners. very disappointing. other than that, the food was excellent and i was quite impressed with what they offered on their special menu. the food quality was uncompromised. if you're going to treat restaurant week diners that way, why join in on restaurant week at all (assuming there is a choice?) i'm sure if you went there paying a large tab, you'd get better service. our waitress was fixated on the table of 8 behind us. what a shame.

We had my surprise birthday party in one of the party rooms and it was amazing! Our servers provided impeccable service. The food, wine and cocktails were delicious. We had 15 people, and the menu was perfect. My husband said the Capital Grille team made party planning easy, and I would definitely have future events there.

My family and I went to Capital Grille on 42nd street for dinner recently. I've been there a couple times before and the food is always good, but on this particular night we were really impressed! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. I usually get the dry aged steak but he recommended the sliced filet mignon and it was extraordinary. I forget sometimes that this is a chain because the service there is more like a friendly local spot where everyone knows you. My only complaint is that it's a little loud in the dining room at some points, but they have some quiet tables if you request one. I'll be back!

We had a wonderful experience at Capital Grille. First, the food was extraordinarily. Though there are many steak houses in NYC, the quality of meat, the cooking perfection and the apps and sides were really top notch. The service was perfect, we were cared for but service never intervened with the dinning experience. The waitstaff is very professional and friendly to the exact measure. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant! We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Went here for our anniversary weekend in NYC. Great food, amazing waitstaff. I had the filet oscar, he had the aged sirloin. They found out we were here for our anniversary and gave us free dessert. Well worth the money. I am a foodie and we eat out all the time. I was thoroughly impressed and can't wait to return. Best meal and service we've had in a long time.

I have been curious about dining here for a long time, and finally went there tonight. Overall, the service was lovely and the atmosphere is nice. HOWEVER, the food is a huge letdown. All the entrees are extremely overly salted. I ordered the "special" cedar planked wild salmon over the glazed salmon on the menu based on the servers recommendation. It was undercooked and more significantly, fishy tasting, as in "not fresh". My friend had a filet of beef which looked nice but was SO darn salty she left half of it. The side of mushrooms was tasty but the saltiest dish of all! The wines were OK but overpriced, the coffee was too strong. Considering the fact that this restaurant is smack in the middle of the best food city in the world, I would have to say it has a long way to go to measure up. I will not go back, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone, be it friend or foe.

The service has changed. We waited a half an hour for our entrees, with the waiter no where in sight. When he did appear he said it was taking so long because of my wife's order of lobster. My wife explained to him that lobster does not take a half hour to cook.My steak was dry and didn't taste like an aged steak. No apologies were given.Very unprofessional.
