    This IS a chain restaurant

I have been curious about dining here for a long time, and finally went there tonight. Overall, the service was lovely and the atmosphere is nice. HOWEVER, the food is a huge letdown. All the entrees are extremely overly salted. I ordered the "special" cedar planked wild salmon over the glazed salmon on the menu based on the servers recommendation. It was undercooked and more significantly, fishy tasting, as in "not fresh". My friend had a filet of beef which looked nice but was SO darn salty she left half of it. The side of mushrooms was tasty but the saltiest dish of all! The wines were OK but overpriced, the coffee was too strong. Considering the fact that this restaurant is smack in the middle of the best food city in the world, I would have to say it has a long way to go to measure up. I will not go back, nor would I ever recommend it to anyone, be it friend or foe.

    Disappointed

The service has changed. We waited a half an hour for our entrees, with the waiter no where in sight. When he did appear he said it was taking so long because of my wife's order of lobster. My wife explained to him that lobster does not take a half hour to cook.My steak was dry and didn't taste like an aged steak. No apologies were given.Very unprofessional.

    amazing

I am not sure where the negative reviews are coming from but this is hands down best steakhouse in the city. The porterhouse is the most flavorful steak i have eve had and the service is outstanding. Expect a pricey meal, however you're paying for the quality. Great for special occassions.

    Top notch restaurant

My husband and I travel quite a bit and we try to explore different dining experiences wherever we go. A couple of weeks ago, I was in NYC and I've always heard of the Capital Grille but never been so we went there for an early dinner. We were nicely greated by the hostess up front and our table was ready in matter of seconds even though I could see that it was a busy night for them. Our server was excellent and was very attentive to all our needs. The food was awesome, I have not had many flavorful steaks as my filet was. My husband ordered the salmon and was very impressed of how flaky and fresh it tasted. I would absolutely go there again and would recommend it to all my friends. The prices are a little bit high, but you're paying for the quality food and the atmosphere, plus their appetizers and side portions are huge as well. Well worth it!!

    Delightful

Have just come from my first visit to Capital Grille and was so impressed I had to write. I was almost overwhelmed by the graciousness of the service. (Full disclosure: it was a late lunch so they were not busy.) Special kudos to our waiter, who was attentive, friendly, and helpful. He also figured out, I guess from overheard conversation, that it was my friend's birthday and offered her a desert on the house. Our filet mignon was very good and the onion rings delicious.

    not worth it

This is an overpriced steak house serving small portions. The steaks are fatty and served rare, regardless of how you ordered it. You will also be drinking liquids for 24 hours they saturate their steaks with salt.
